Mercury vs Wings Prediction

Phoenix Mercury vs. Connecticut Suns

  • Location: Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT

  • Game Time & Date: 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 14

  • Coverage: ABC

  • Point Spread: Sun -8.5 (bet365)

Kahleah Copper, UNDER 20.5 Points at +100

Bet the UNDER on a Kahleah Copper point total? That’s ridiculous, right? The answer would be yes against any team other than the Sun. Connecticut has the No. 1 defense this season, allowing 72.7 ppg. They didn’t just beat up on a few lesser teams earlier in the year to generate that stat.

Over the last five games, they’ve allowed 72.8 ppg, and they seem to be the one team that can slow Copper down. In the two games between the Sun and Mercury, she scored nine and 21 points. That 21 came just a couple of weeks ago, on July 1, in Phoenix.

But if you look back a little further, she scored under 20.5 points in six of ten games in June.

Brianna Jones, OVER 12.5 Points at -125

Jones scored over 12.5 points in just two of four games played in July. However, one of those games was against Phoenix, and she had 18. In the 70-47 game earlier in the year, she scored 16 in 18 minutes of playing time.

She ended June with a six- and seven-point performance but went over 12.5 points in six of the 11 games. Should the Sun get out to a big enough lead, Alyssa Thomas and/or DeWanna Bonner get pulled out, Jones will benefit from additional shot attempts.

Las Vegas Aces vs. Washington Mystics

  • Location: Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C.

  • Game Time & Date: 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 14

  • Coverage: CBSSN/MNMT

  • Point Spread: Aces -11.5 (FanDuel)

A’ja Wilson, OVER 26.5 Points at -114

OVER 40.5 Pts + Reb + Ast

OVER 11.5 Rebounds at -108 (FanDuel)

In Wilson, we trust! The best scoring threat in the WNBA is coming off a 33-point, 18-rebound day against the Dream in Atlanta. Before that, she had a 24-point, 20-rebound game against the Storm in Seattle. This game is on the road, too. But it may not necessarily be a good sign.

Wilson has gone over that number with just her points and rebounds in three of the last four games. While playing on the road is usually not conducive to big statistical nights, the Aces are facing one of the worst defenses in the league (84.8 ppg allowed over the last five, tenth best).

With how she’s playing and who the Aces are facing tonight, there is one reason to think she may not have another monster night on the boards and the scoreboard. In both previous games against the Mystics, her stat lines were nowhere close to totaling 40.5 (18/9/4 and 11/9/1).

But Wilson is on a roll right now, and there is no reason to think a struggling Mystics team can slow her down.

Stefanie Dolson, OVER 11.5 Points at -108

Her last time out against the Aces, Dolson led the team with 23 points. As a player averaging 10.6 ppg this season, she came back down to Earth after that, scoring ten, ten, and 13 in her last three. But in June, she ended the month on a five-game stretch of 14+ ppg.

She may not get most of her points until garbage time, but she’ll get at least 12 in this contest.

Indiana Fever vs. Minnesota Lynx

  • Location: Target Center in Minneapolis, MN

  • Game Time & Date: 4 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 14

  • Coverage: ESPN

  • Point Spread: Lynx -4

Caitlin Clark, OVER 18.5 Points at +100

OVER 9.5 Assists at +104

Clark is averaging just 16.8 ppg this season, but she has been on a roll the last three games, where she scored 19, 29, and 20 points. However, if you go back a little further, she has gone over 18.5 points just four times in her last ten games.

So—why take the OVER, especially when the team is playing one of the best defenses in the league?

Clark’s story this season has been all about her progression as she adapts to the pro level and begins to thrive—and she is thriving right now. Of course, playing a tough defense on its home court is not conducive to stars scoring a lot. However, there is more value in the OVER at +100 than the UNDER at -130.

As for her assists total, Clark was great at distributing the ball in college and has started to do it in the WNBA at a similar level. She’s had double-digit assists in six of her last seven games. While the Lynx defense has been stingy regarding assists (19.4 allowed per game), Clark is on a roll.

Minnesota may slow her down, but she’ll get the job done.

Atlanta Dream vs. Seattle Storm

  • Location: Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, WA

  • Game Time & Date: 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 14

  • Coverage: WNBA League Pass

  • Point Spread: Storm -13.5 (FanDuel)

Jewell Loyd, OVER 20.5 Points at -114

Loyd may not be scoring like last season when she was the league’s scoring leader, but she can still put up 20 ppg on any given day. But can she be good for one more?

Yes. Yes, she can.

Loyd only had 14 her last time out vs. Minnesota. However, if you go back a little further, she scored over 20.5 points in four of her last seven games. Against Atlanta’s lackluster defense, Loyd could go on to have a monster day. If not, she’ll be good for 21+ points.

Alisha Gray, UNDER 17.5 Points at -114

Gray averages 16 ppg this season and scored 19+ in five of her last six games. While she is a capable scoring threat, Seattle has one of the better defenses in the league. They will not let her come close to 17.5 points for this game.
