Copper has averaged over 29 ppg and has scored over 30 in three of Phoenix’s five games. But with the exception of the Aces, the Mercury have not faced a team with a solid defense—which Connecticut has.
The Sun has allowed one player to score more than 24.5 points in a game this season; Napheesa Collier scored 31 points in an OT game. Copper averaged a new career-high of 18.7 ppg last season, 10+ points lower than her current average.
She has been shooting very well and is due for some regression.

Thomas has picked up where she left off last season. She is a reliable scoring threat, a solid rebounder, and not afraid to share the ball. She’s averaging 15.4 ppg and 9.6 rebounds per game. But teams are averaging 89.2 points and 36.6 rebounds a game against the Mercury, second most in the league in both categories.
After getting ejected in Saturday’s game against the Sky, Thomas will have a little extra motivation to perform in this game. She has had a double-double in three of five games and is a solid bet to get one vs. Phoenix.
Triple-doubles are not common in the WNBA, but Thomas had had one already this season and came within an assist of another. It would not be shocking to see her get one against the Mercury.

Clark has been as unpredictable as they come during her short WNBA career. She’s scored 17+ four times, 20+ three times, and single digits twice. Her rebound total has ranged from 0-10 per game (5.4 per game average). But her assists total has been consistent with 5-8 in six of seven games.
Her shot percentage has been all over the place, and she has yet to have a big game from the three-point line. She was two assists from a triple-double against the Sparks in LA. This contest could be the game where she finally puts it all together and explodes. But don’t count on it.
Expect a stat line similar to the one she had in LA (11 points. 10 rebounds, and eight assists).
After getting off to slow starts this season, Boston and Mitchell have taken on more significant roles in the last few games. This fact is in part because defenses are more focused on Caitlin Clark than anyone else on the roster and because Clark is still working on getting acclimated to the WNBA game.
Mitchell has had 17+ in four of her last five games, including a season-high 18-point night against the Sparks in LA. Boston has had 12+ in four of her last six, including a season-high 17 vs. the Sparks in LA. Don’t be surprised if both hit those numbers again tonight.
Brink has exploded in her last two games with 21 and 15 points but has otherwise not been much of a factor on the scoreboard. Her most significant contribution has been on defense, blocking shots, and pulling down rebounds. But while she has had three games with 8+ rebounds, she had just two in the other.
She had 15 points and nine rebounds last time against the Fever, but don’t expect a similar game with an Indiana team looking for their first home win of the season.

Diggins-Smith is averaging 12.7 points per game, but that number is a little misleading since she had one game with just two points and another with only eight. Otherwise, she has scored 10, 22, 18, and 16. Chicago has a respectable defense, but it is not hard to see Diggins-Smith recording 10-15 points.
She has been a reliable source of assists, with 5-9 per game. However, opponents have recorded a league-low 18 assists per game. The Sky defense is pretty decent; her point total will probably be in line with her season average, but assists will be hard to come by.
Reese scored 12, 11, 13, and 13 in her four professional games. She was a solid scoring threat in college and has appeared more comfortable on the floor with each passing game. Seattle has a respectable defense. But it is more likely we will see her take more shots than fewer and at least score her season average of 12.7 ppg.
