Through her first two games in the WNBA, Caitlin Clark has looked like exactly what she is—a rookie. She's struggled with her shot and adjusting to playing in the WNBA in general. Things will undoubtedly improve for her and the Fever in time, but not against one of the best teams in the WNBA.
Clark could break out at any time now, but don't count on it being against the Liberty in New York. The Liberty shut her down Thursday night in Indianapolis and will likely do so again on their home court. Until the Fever can start playing with fewer mistakes and more continuity, temper your expectations for Caitlin Clark.

The Fever had the worst defense in the league last season, and so far, that may be the case this year, too. They couldn't slow Stewart down on Indiana's home court Thursday night, and there is no reason to think they can on the road.
New York may try to get more players involved, but Stewart will still score 20+ points and pull down 10+ rebounds.
Bet on Breanna Stewart Props at FanDuel
This number may seem small, considering she just scored 30 points on Phoenix. But she averaged 22.8 ppg last year and scored more than 23.5 in two of four games against the Sparks last season. LA had one of the better defenses in the league last season, but it remains to be seen how good they may be this season.
They gave up 92 points to Atlanta in their season opener. If the Dream can put 90+ on the Sparks, it wouldn't be shocking to see the Aces clear 100. If they do, Wilson will easily go over 23.5 points.
Bet on A'ja Wilson Props at FanDuel
The Stanford standout averaged 25.5 ppg and 11.9 rpg in her final season, good enough for the Spark to take her with the No. 2 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. But if her first game is any indication, it doesn't look like they will throw her to wolves and ask her to play big minutes immediately.
She started vs. Atlanta but only logged 20 minutes, scoring 11 points and pulling down two rebounds. Against a team as talented as the Aces, even if she does log 30+ minutes, bettors should not count on her producing much of a stat line.
Bet on Cameron Brink Props at FanDuel
Reese had a decent game in her WNBA debut vs. the Wings in the season opener with 12 points, eight rebounds, and one assist. She did not have a great night from the floor, hitting just five of 14 shot attempts and just two of eight free throws.
She averaged 18.6 ppg in college, shot 47.1% from the field and 72.6% from the free throw line. Now that she's got the first game jitters out of the way, she'll have a better outing this time.
Bet on Angel Reese Props at FanDuel
Yes, she just had a 25-point night against the Sky, but that kind of game is the exception to the rule. She averaged 21.2 points per game last season and less than 20 ppg in three of her other four seasons. Don't count on her shooting the ball 23 times again or scoring more than 20 points.
Bet on Arike Ogunbowale Props at FanDuel
Taurasi had an incredible night in the Mercury's season opener vs. Sparks, making seven of 11 three-point attempts. Over the last four seasons, she has averaged from 2.5 to 3.2 three-pointers a game. The Sparks hit 12 of 31 attempts vs. the Dream in their opener.
So, it would not be shocking if Taurasi were to attempt 10+ three-pointers again and make at least three of them.
