WNBA Player Props and Best Bets for Thursday, May 16

Tonight’s game between the New York Liberty and Indiana Fever will feature two of the most exciting players the WNBA has to offer in Caitlin Clark and Breanna Stewart. Along with the betting line for the game (which has the Fever at +7), fans can bet on player props featuring Clark, Stewart, and more.

Stewart, last season’s WNBA MVP, had an off night in the Liberty’s season opener vs. Washington with just eight points (3-9 from the floor), eight rebounds, and two assists. Clark led the Fever in scoring with 20 points but had no rebounds and just three assists. 

Both will probably play much better tonight.

Caitlin Clark, 5+ Three-Pointers at +154 (FanDuel)

The Liberty had a decent defense last season (No. 4 in points allowed; No. 5 in three-point percentage), and it had a solid night against the Mystics in the season opener.  But it will not contain a shooter like Clark, driven to make a good impression on local fans in her regular-season home debut.

She was 4-11 in the opener, but there is no value in betting on 4+ made threes or the OVER 3.5 at -194. Clark will try to do what she does best and put on a show for the home crowd.

Caitlin Clark, 20+ Points at -122 (FanDuel)

If she is going to hit 5+ three-pointers on the night, it is not hard to imagine Clark scoring at least 20 points like she did against the Sun. For those confident that Clark will put on a show for the home crowd, there is value in betting on her to score 25+ at +385.

Even if she struggles again, since the Fever will likely play from behind for most of the game, the team will not have her stop taking shots. She may not score 25+, but she will clear 20.

Breanna Stewart, OVER 20.5 Points at -130 (FanDuel)

Stewart did not have the kind of night one would expect from the reigning MVP in New York’s season opener vs. Washington (3-9 from the floor and 2-2 from the line for eight points). 

But fans really shouldn’t be concerned. Stewart got off to a slow start in the season opener against the Mystics last year, too (3-10 from the floor, 0-5 from three-point range for 12 points).

Last year, she rebounded against Indiana’s dreadful defense by making 71.4% of her shots for 45 points. She may not rebound like that this season, but she will bounce back.

Sabrina Ionescu, OVER 28.5 Pts+Reb+Ast at -118 (FanDuel)

The Liberty will probably make an effort to get Stewart more involved in this game, which could lead to more assists and rebounds for Ionescu. An increased role for Stewart could mean fewer shots for Ionesco, but against Indiana’s defense, she may still be good for 15 points. 

She had eight rebounds and eight assists when New York faced Indiana in the second game of the season last year. It would not be shocking if she bested those numbers tonight.

Aliyah Boston, UNDER 13.5 Points at +104 (FanDuel)

Last year’s Rookie of the Year practically disappeared in Indiana’s opener vs. the Sun. In 29 minutes of game time, Boston got off just six shots (made two), pulled down six rebounds, and recorded just two assists. 

She will be more involved in the game plan against the Liberty and will have a much better night. However, the focal point of the offense will be Caitlin Clark, so her shots may remain limited. She will have a more significant role in the game but may be lucky to crack ten points on the night.
