The Las Vegas Aces are off to another solid 3-1 start and hope to make it 4-1 after playing their first road game of the season tonight. But the Minnesota Lynx have also gotten off to a strong start (4-1) and will not make it easy on the 2X time-defending champions.
Despite how well the Lynx have played, the Aces are 5.5-point road favorites.
However, the Lynx are not your typical home underdogs. Yes, the Aces have the No. 1 scoring offense (91.3 ppg), but the Lynx have the No. 2 scoring offense (88.6 ppg), and Las Vegas has been shaky on the defensive end of the court (No. 10, 85 ppg allowed).
Let’s review the full betting line for the Aces vs. Lynx, along with our pick for the game.
It couldn’t get much easier for Las Vegas as the first two weeks of the season have been. They have played every game at home and have faced three teams that missed the postseason last year and had a combined 31-89 record.
While they have been playing well, they haven’t blown the competition away like expected. They have been double-digit favorites in every game but have gone 1-3 ATS, with the one win coming Saturday when they covered the 16.5-point spread (final score, 99-80).
If anything, their one loss is a disappointment. Minnesota, on the other hand, has performed above and beyond expectations. This season, they have made the most of having the No. 2 offense and defense, going 4-1 SU and 5-0 ATS while being the underdog in every game.

It is not like the Aces went undefeated last season, so losing one game is not that big of a deal. However, fans may want to be a little concerned about their team, anyway.
A team like the Aces should be 4-0 SU and ATS after playing three of last season’s worst teams at home. While there have been stretches of dominant play, there have also been a few head-scratching moments.
After dismantling the Mercury in the first period of the season opener, 29-14, things fell apart in the second as Phoenix outscored the Aces 27-13 to go into the half down by one. While the Sparks never really threatened in their second game, the Aces couldn’t put them away.
Their defensive issues were put on blast in the loss to the Mercury in an early season rematch (May 21) when Kaleah Copper put 37 points to lead Phoenix to a shocking 98-88 win. But in Saturday’s game vs. Indiana, everything seemed to click as the Aces won handily, 99-80.
With the team heading into their first road game tonight, bettors have to decide whether how they played Saturday is the new norm or if they’ll revert to doing just enough to win (or possibly lose).
Bet on Las Vegas Lynx at BetMGM
It is hard to know just how excited fans of the Lynx should be. On the one hand, the team has the second-best record at 4-1 SU and the best ATS at 5-0 (the only team to cover in every game to date). While they did crush the New York Liberty, Seattle and Atlanta aren’t exactly contenders.
While they lost to Connecticut (May 23), fans can take some consolation that the Sun needed overtime to beat the Lynx by one, 83-82,
They lost by one to the lone undefeated team, crushed a top contender (Liberty), and have one of the best all-around teams in the league. So, why have they been underdogs in every game this season?
Our only guess is that expectations were low for the Lynx entering the 2024 WNBA season and high (or higher) for other teams. But now that we are two weeks into the season, they will not remain underdogs for long if they continue to trend in the right direction.
Bet on Minnesota Lynx at BetMGM
The Aces have had it too easy so far this season. Along with playing at home, they have played an extremely weak schedule that has allowed them to win games while not always playing like 2X defending champs.
Minnesota, on the other hand, has been playing well on both ends of the court, whether at home or on the road.
This game will be the wake-up call that the Aces need. The Lynx will come out looking to take advantage of the Aces’ shoddy defense and put up some serious points. While Las Vegas’s league-leading offense will try to follow suit, Minnesota’s defense will make it hard for them to keep up.
