The Indiana Fever will try to keep their winning ways alive tonight when they take on the 2x-defending champs, the Las Vegas Aces, at home. While the Aces clobbered the Fever in two previous games, there is a chance the Aces could be seriously understaffed when the game tips off.
A’ja Wilson’s status is not clear, but with or without her, Indiana will have their hands full in what should be a competitive contest.
The Fever got back on track with a 104-100 OT win over the Atlanta Dream. It was Indiana’s eighth win since the break, tying them with the Liberty for second-most and one back of the Lynx.
Indiana scored 100+ points for the third time in their last five games. They may need another such night to beat the Aces. However, in two prior games vs. the Aces, they scored 80 and 69.
But they may be in luck because the Vegas offense is averaging just 81.4 points per game (sixth-best since the break). Here is the betting line for tonight’s game.

The Aces have owned the season series this year, winning both prior games by 19 points (88-69, May 25; 99-80, July 2). They have a pretty commanding lead in the all-time series, 31-21. Vegas has won the last 13 meetings outright but was just 5-5 against the spread in the last ten.
As for the total, they’ve combined to go over it in the last two meetings. However, the OVER is just 3-7 in the last ten.
22-13 SU, 15-20 ATS
OVER: 16-19
On the Road: 11-6 SU, 7-10
The outlook for the Aces in this game hinges on one thing - whether A’ja Wilson plays. With her, they can beat any team on any given day. But without her, they are a different team. She’s been an extremely talented constant for the Ace.
Before Sunday’s Game vs. the Sun, the last time she sat out a game was in 2019.
But is she going to play? That’s a very good question. You’d think the answer is yes since she is not on the injury report. But she was not on Saturday’s injury report and got ruled out an hour before the game.
She is not the only talented player on the roster for the Aces, of course. But Wilson is the type of player that attracts so much attention, the rest of the field looks better by default.
However, without her on Sunday vs. the Sun, the Vegas offense had its third-lowest scoring output of the year.

Indiana has been on fire since the break, winning eight of its last ten games. Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark have led the way, averaging just under 25 points per game. They are also the No. 2 and 3 scorers in the league since the break, second to A’ja Wilson.
But there is one issue that continues to nag them - they can’t play defense. After giving up 100 to the Dream the other night, the Fever have given up 87.2 points per game since the break, easily the worst among teams making the playoffs.
However, they may catch a break if Wilson ends up not playing. When these two teams met earlier this year, she scored 28 and 29 points. However, she wasn’t the only Ace to play well. Kelsey Plum put up 34 points in one game.
Plum had 20 in the other, and Jackie Young had 22.

How you bet will be determined by the status of Wilson. If she plays, the Aces will probably win. But the Fever could make a game with how well they’ve been playing, which would have us leaning towards the OVER for this ridiculously high total.
But if she does not play…
There is a chance the rest of the Aces roster comes together and figures out how to win without their star player. However, with how well Indiana is playing and home-court advantage, this is a great chance to bet on an underdog to win outright.
