Since dropping his title in a loss against Alexander Volkanovski, former champ Max Holloway has come up short on two separate occasions to win back his gold - losing twice more against Volkanovski.

In this Saturday’s main event, Holloway gets a third chance at becoming a two-time featherweight champion. He will take on the undefeated Ilia Topuria - the man who was finally able to defeat Volkanovski for featherweight gold.

Born in Spain, Ilia Topuria has yet to lose a fight professionally and has seven wins under the UFC banner. Boasting a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Topuria is actually known more for his striking.

It was his striking that led him to the title as he managed to knock out Alexander Volkanovski in the second round of their UFC 298 main event back in February.

Max Holloway has been unbeatable since his last loss to Volkanovski. He has won three in a row - having most recently earned one of the greatest knockouts of all time when he KO’ed Justin Gaethje in the final minute of their five-round UFC 300 “BMF title” fight.

Despite standing three-inches taller and the fact that he has never been knocked out in his career, the former champion Max Holloway is listed as the +196 underdog at FanDuel for this weekend’s main event.

Despite constant health problems, weight cutting issues and the fact that he has only fought once since the end of 2022, undefeated Khamzat Chimaev is still listed as the -250 favorite over former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker.

Ranked as the number-three middleweight in the UFC, the former champion Whittaker holds black belts in BJJ, hapkido and karate. He has won his last two fights in a row - both taking place this past year. He defeated former title challenger Paulo Costa and, more recently, defeated Ikram Aliskerov.

Aliskerov was actually a last-minute replacement for Chimaev against Whittaker. Originally slated to face each other  back in June, Chimaev withdrew for health reasons and Aliskerov stepped in to take on Whittaker.

Chimaev’s last fight took place at UFC 294 last October. He took on a returning Kamaru Usman and defeated him via majority decision. This will be his first bout of 2024.

Chimaev will stand two-inches taller and have a 1.5-inch reach advantage over the former champion.

Here we see yet another undefeated fighter do battle, as England’s 14-0 Lerone Murphy will take on fan-favorite heavy hitter Dan Ige.

Since fighting to a draw in his UFC debut back in 2019, Murphy has gone on to win six fights with the promotion - having most recently defeated Edson Barboza by decision this past May. He is now listed as the number -12 ranked featherweight in the promotion.

Dan Ige will have the fans behind him, however, as they will remember his most recent performance in which he stepped in on less than 8-hours notice to replace an injured Brian Ortega to take on Diego Lopes at UFC 303.

Ige lost the fight via unanimous decision but earned a lot of respect. He is now 3-2 in his last five fights.

These two fighters are the same age, but Murphy will have a two-inch advantage in both height and reach. He is listed as a -300 favorite at FanDuel over Ige.

With light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira quickly running out of top-contender opponents, it’s very likely that the winner between top-ten light heavyweights Magomed Ankalaev and Aleksandar Rakic will get the next shot at the champion.

Some are surprised that Magomed Ankalaev hasn’t fought Pereira for gold yet as he has remained at the top of the rankings for years. However, since fighting Jan Blachowicz to a draw for the vacant title in 2022 and following that performance with a no-contest with Johnny Walker, Ankalaev has technically only won once since 2022.

His most recent bout was a rematch with Walker, whom he defeated in the second round via knockout.

Rakic most recently returned from a knee injury sustained in a 2022 bout with Jan Blachowicz. He made his comeback at UFC 300 but found himself on the losing end of things versus Jiri Prochazka.

Magomedov has the wrestling and grappling advantage but Rakic has the physical advantages in both height and reach. In the end, it is Ankalev who is listed at - 285 at FanDuel- the largest betting favorite on the main card.

Fun note, this is the only fight on the main card NOT to include an undefeated fighter.

Although technically blind in one eye, that doesn’t stop Shara “Bullet” Magomedov from getting fight clearance overseas. This will be his fourth UFC appearance, with all of his fights thus far taking place in the middle east.

He takes on Armen Petrosyan; a Contender Series winner who is now 3-2 in the UFC.

After winning two in a row, Petrosyan was submitted by Rodolfo Vieira in his most recent bout that took place back in February.

The undefeated Magomedov last fought back in August, earning a tough-fought unanimous decision win over Michal Oleksiejczuk in what was deemed the fight of the night.

Petrosyan will stand one-inch taller but Magomedov will enjoy a two-inch reach advantage.

Shara Magomedov will kick off the main card as the -168 favorite at FanDuel.
