Former flyweight title challenger Brandon Royval aims to become the first man to defeat Tatsuro Taira in the UFC octagon.
The undefeated Taira last fought back in June. He faced off against Alex Perez and earned his second TKO victory in a row.
Royval, who boasts a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, lost his title fight against champion Alexandre Pantoja last December. However, he bounced back in a big way in his most recent bout, where he earned a split-decision win over the former two-time flyweight champion Brandon Moreno.
Taira will have a two-inch advantage in the reach department despite Royval standing two-inches taller.
Listed at -290 at FanDuel, it appears that oddsmakers expect Tatsuro Taira to remain undefeated well after this weekend’s event.

Brad Tavares | TALE OF THE TAPE | Park Jun-Yong |
---|---|---|
36 | Age | 33 |
5 ft 11 in | Height | 6 ft |
74 in | Reach | 73 in |
20-9 | Record | 17-6 |
TUF alumni Brad Tavares is just 1-3 in his last four fights and will enter the octagon this Saturday having recently suffered a TKO loss at the hands of Gregory Rodrigues back in February.
He will take on a tough opponent in Park Jun-Yong, who recently had a four-fight winning streak snapped at the hands of Andre Muniz last December. He had previously won three in a row via submission and one by decision.
Jun-Yong is the younger and taller fighter between these two but Tavares will have a one-inch reach advantage and a significant amount more experience inside the octagon.
Park Jun-Yong comes in as the -188 favorite at FanDuel.

Chidi Njokuani | TALE OF THE TAPE | Jared Gooden |
---|---|---|
35 | Age | 30 |
6 ft 3 in | Height | 6 ft |
80 in | Reach | 77 in |
23-10, 1 no-contest | Record | 23-9 |
Originally scheduled as a welterweight bout, these two fighters will now compete at a catchweight of 172.5-pounds after Jared Gooden missed weight. The fight will proceed, with 20-percent of Gooden’s purse being rewarded to his opponent Chidi Njokuani.
Not only is missing weight a bad sign for Gooden; he will also enter the octagon this Saturday with further physical disadvantages - namely standing three-inches shorter and having a three-inch shorter reach than Njokuani.
Njokuani snapped his three-fight losing skid recently with his split-decision win over Rhys McKee.
Gooden is 3-1 in his last four fights and is coming off of a win over Wellington Turman. This will be his first fight of 2024 and he is listed as a +148 underdog at FanDuel.

Grant Dawson | TALE OF THE TAPE | Rafa Garcia |
---|---|---|
30 | Age | 30 |
5 ft 10 in | Height | 5 ft 7 in |
72 in | Reach | 70 in |
21-2-1 | Record | 15-3 |
In what is one of the toughest and most competitive divisions in the UFC, Grant Dawson has been on the cusp of breaking into the top-ten for quite some time.
The Brazilian jiu-Jitsu black belt is 4-1 in his last five fights and is coming off of a unanimous decision win over Joe Solecki that took place back in June at UFC 302.
Dawson will compete against Rafa Garcia, who is also 4-1 in his last five bouts. Garcia has won two straight by decision with his most recent win coming over the legend Clay Guida last April. This will be his first fight of 2024.
Garcia will stand three-inches shorter than Dawson and have a shorter reach by two-inches.
Despite the recent success of both fighters, this matchup is not seen as an equal one in the eyes of the oddsmakers. Dawson is listed as the biggest betting favorite on the main card at -420 at FanDuel.

37 | Age | 34 |
6 ft | Height | 5 ft 11 in |
74 in | Reach | 73 in |
17-5 | Record | 24-10-1 no-contest |
A highly credentialed fighter, Alex Morono holds a second-degree black belt in BJJ as well as a black belt in taekwondo. However he has struggled as of late inside the UFC octagon and is just 3-3 in his last six fights.
Morono most recently lost via unanimous decision to Niko Price this past June at UFC 302.
Another fighter who is aiming to get back in the win column is Daniel Rodriguez, who currently finds himself in the midst of a three-fight losing streak. Rodriguez most recently fought and lost to former middleweight title challenger Kelvin Gastelum this past summer.
Rodriguez will have a one-inch advantage in both reach and height and at -215 at FanDuel is a bigger betting favorite than some may have expected.
