The 2020 edition of the Cordoba Open features a stacked field.
Since it’s the first tournament of this year’s ATP Tour set to be played on clay, it has naturally drawn in plenty of clay specialists.
As a result, the competition should deliver some quality tennis and plenty of exciting matches.

2019 Cordoba Open Result: quarterfinals.
Schwartzman’s year began with the ATP Cup, which saw him drop three of four matches.
The Argentinean managed to bounce back in Australia, advancing to the fourth round before losing to Novak Djokovic in straight sets.
Schwartzman is currently at the best moment of his career, breaking into the top 15 and even flirting with a potential spot inside the top 10.
Clay is his best surface, which, combined with the momentum and the local factor, make him the clear favorite to win.
This is Schwartzman’s best stretch of the year, as he is usually able to pile up points during the South American leg of the clay season.
2020 record: 4-3, 0 titles
2020 prize money: $149,900
2019 Cordoba Open Result: runner-up.
Just like his countryman Schwartzman, Pella’s year also began with the ATP Cup, which saw him win two of four matches.
A true clay specialist, Pella’s four career finals at the ATP level, including his only title, were on the surface.
At the Challenger level, 12 of Pella’s 14 finals and ten of his 12 titles came on clay as well.
He made it to the Cordoba Open finals in last year’s edition but lost in three sets to compatriot Juan Ignacio Londero.

Nine of his ten career finals at the ATP Tour levels were played on this surface.
Cuevas usually scores solid results during the South American leg, which includes his best career result – an ATP 500 title in Rio de Janeiro back in 2016.
Unseeded into last year’s Cordoba Open main draw, the veteran made it to the semifinals, losing to Guido Pella in three sets.
He could be set for another deep run in the 2020 edition, this time as the number 6 seed.

Djere made waves last year after winning his first career title at the ATP Tour level.
He upset Dominic Thiem in round 1 on his way to the ATP 500 title in Rio de Janeiro.
While the Serb failed to repeat the success at other tournaments, the unexpected win showed some good potential.
Now, Djere has a good chance at capturing his first ATP 250 title.
His other results during the clay season included a semifinals appearance in Sao Paulo and a fourth-round in Madrid, his best career result at the Masters 1000 level.

Garin is a former Junior slam champion, having won the French Open title in 2013.
At the professional level, the young Chilean player has 20 finals, three at the ATP Tour and 17 at the Challenger and Futures level.
All 20 finals were played on clay, which shows how well Garin does on the surface.
He endured a terrible Australian hard court season, winning only one match in three tournaments – the ATP Cup, Adelaide Open and the Australian Open.
Now, back in familiar territory, Garin could repeat his success from 2019, which saw the Chilean reach his first three finals at the ATP Tour level.
Garin won his first two career titles during last year’s clay-court season.
The odds for the ATP Cordoba winner are provided by DraftKings Sportsbook.
Good luck!
