ClutchBet is one of the newest online sportsbooks in the US, available right now for players in Colorado and Iowa. If you’re looking for something a little different in a crowded market, it’s a great option.
The company is a subsidiary of BlueBet, one of the biggest names in Australian gambling, and is already bringing some fresh ideas to the world of US sports betting. There’s also a juicy welcome bonus package worth up to $250 for new players who sign up now.
We’re covering all of that right here in our ClutchBet review, plus details on software, banking, customer support, on-running promos, and a lot more.
The first thing to say is that the ClutchBet software isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel. If you’re looking for an excellent and user-friendly option for bettors of all types that simplifies the process of signing up and starting to bet, ClutchBet is for you.
That said, a few touches help it stand out, which I’ll get into.
The desktop site follows a familiar layout:
The menu of sports options on the left side of the screen
The betslip on the right
The betting markets take up the most real estate in the center
The sports menu is collapsable, and there are a couple of quick links to other sections of the site included, too. I like the icons that denote the most popular sports and markets and which events are eligible for Same Game Parlays (more on that in the next section).
Placing bets is logical and straightforward. Just click on a selection to add it to your betslip, type in your stake, and click the button to lock it in. The same goes for building parlays—you can add your legs, and the betslip will update automatically with the different options. It’s easy.
I also like how each sport has different tabs for Live, Popular, and Next Up betting markets, making browsing easier. You can easily toggle the odds format across the site, which is not always valid with US sportsbooks. I have one criticism for the desktop—the banner advertising different promos takes up a lot of real estate on the screen.
It’s a similar story for the ClutchBet mobile app, which is available for both iOS and Android from the Apple Store and Google Play Store, respectively.
It’s still early days for ClutchBet in the US, and both apps have only been reviewed a couple of dozen times. Navigating is pretty smooth, with the same menus appearing at the top of the screen and hiding when not in use. The betslip also pops up when you require it and hides otherwise.
Interestingly, of the handful of more negative reviews on the Google Play Store, many of the issues described have subsequently been addressed. For instance, one complained about the lack of SGP options in the NFL, which have since arrived at ClutchBet. This is a good sign: it shows that the sportsbook is responsive to user feedback and continuing to improve.
The only honest criticism of our ClutchBet mobile review is that the site is not mobile-friendly via your device’s browser, and you will need to download the ClutchBet app to play on your cell phone. This is fine for most people, but not everyone wants an extra app on their phone, and it’d be great to see the software updated for mobile browser compatibility.
Overall, I’m more than satisfied with the user experience at ClutchBet. It’s not groundbreaking, but it is easy for beginners and more experienced users.
I’m giving ClutchBet a 4/5 rating in this section.
ClutchBet offers a number of unique features. If building parlays is your thing, this is one of the best sportsbooks in the US.
I’m taking a point away because this still feels like a young site with more to give and different directions to develop. Live streaming options, betting tips and guides, and a rewards club are all potential features down the line.
However, as I said, some great features are already up and running.
Thanks to a few interesting and unique features, I’m giving ClutchBet 4/5 in this section.
Let’s dive in.
I will start with the live betting platform, which is good. I love that there is both a Live button and a Next Up button, which helps you plan your live betting in advance and stay updated with what’s coming down the line.
Placing live bets works just the same as regular bets, using the intelligent betslip that appears when you click your betting selection. The various live events eligible for betting are nicely organized into different categories within the Live section, and the betting lines buzz with a satisfying animation to denote changes in the odds.
One thing I'd like to see here is the addition of live updates from the games themselves. Ideally, I'd want this to be in the form of actual streaming, but saving that for some animation or at least stats updates would be welcome.
This is a very simple but very effective tool created by ClutchBet. The button permanently lives in the main menu, so it’s always easy to access. When you click it, you’ll be presented with a list of the main moneyline or points spread bets from all the upcoming games in the sport, so that you can easily and quickly build a parlay by choosing your favorite selections. It’s much easier than manually opening up each game from the list of sports.
This is exactly what I love to see: very simple but also genuinely innovative and useful.
The SGP tool at ClutchBet makes it easy to build a parlay of selections from the same game. It works similarly to Same Game Parlay tools at other sportsbooks: all the possible markets associated with a single game are presented to you, and you can choose which ones you want to add to your slip. You can minimize the ones that you’re not interested in, too.
The main thing I like about SGPs at ClutchBet, which makes them stand out, is that the sportsbook adds a little icon to all the betting markets, and then, when you drill down further, all the games that have the tool available for them. It’s perfect for seeing what’s happening at just a glance.
While SGP tools are pretty standard at US sportsbooks, ClutchBet’s Player Matchup tool is something new altogether, and I love it. Essentially, it follows the same model as an SGP, except it is based on a matchup between two players. So, you are presented with a series of categories and you build a parlay by deciding who will come out on top in each one.
For instance, an NBA player matchup could include markets like Most Points, Most Rebounds, Most Steals, and Most Blocks. You can choose as many or as few of these picks as you want and parlay them together. ClutchBet selects the most interesting and evenly matched players for the section too, and even if you don’t want to bet, it’s just a really interesting thing to check out. I'm a big fan.
I love to see a promotions section overflowing with different offers and bonuses, and that’s exactly what greets you when you open that part of the ClutchBet. The big exception here is the lack of any kind of specific rewards program based on your betting habits. It’s something I’d like to see added at some point.
At ClutchBet, new players receive $250 in bonus bets spread over their first five weeks of playing. To get started, use our link with the promo code “CLUTCH250” during registration. From there, you’ll make your first wager between $10 and $250. That wager is matched at a 100% rate and spread over the first five weeks of having an account.
The spread is done in 20% increments, with the first 20% upfront.
So, if you wager $100, you’ll get $20 upfront and $20 over the next four Mondays.
The initial wager must be on a contest with -200 odds or longer.
SuperBoosts are the ClutchBet version of Odds Boosts: specially selected bets that receive enhanced odds that get updated every few days. There are a few twists, however. First, SuperBoosts only become available an hour before the game starts. Sometimes, they are for specific bets (for instance, Nikola Jokic to score 30 points or more), but they can also be more flexible (for example, fixed odds of +200 in any spread bet involving the Denver Nuggets).
This is a fun, free-play game offered by ClutchBet where you can win bonus bets. Just opt into the promo and make your selections, and if you rank on the leaderboard, you’ll win your share of $100 in bonuses. You’ll get an extra $20 in bonus bets if all your selections are correct.
ClutchBet is constantly coming up with new offers and promotions, depending on what’s happening in the sporting calendar.
Some examples of current but soon-expiring promotions include:
Daily odds boosts for NBA action.
Hole-In-One Bonus for the WM Phoenix Open
THE BIG GAME First Touchdown Insurance
NFL Same Game Parlay Insurance
UFC Parlay Insurance
And more!
ClutchBet is getting a score of 4/5 for this section.
ClutchBet offers four ways to deposit funds into your account. Overall, the deposit and withdrawal experience is good. Still, regarding the various payment technologies, it’s not quite at the same level as sites like FanDuel and DraftKings, to name a couple. However, ClutchBet is relatively new on the scene, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see their options expand in the future.
Check out the payment methods available below.
Payment Method | Deposits? | Withdrawals? | Minimum Deposit | Fees? | Processing Time? |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
VIP Preferred (ACH / eCheck) | Yes | Yes | $20 | No | Instant for deposits, up to five business days for withdrawals |
PayPal | Yes | Yes | $20 | No | Instant for deposits and withdrawals |
Skrill | Yes | Yes | $20 | No | Instant for deposits and withdrawals |
Paysafe Cash | Yes | No | $20 | No | Instant |
The payout speeds at ClutchBet are good but not the fastest in the industry. During our tests, our withdrawal requests were generally processed within two days, and then it took, on average, another couple of days for ACH Transfers to hit our account. Skrill and PayPal were processed instantly after withdrawal approval.
All in all, this is good. However, I must acknowledge that sites like FanDuel offer same-day withdrawals for various payment methods.
ClutchBet is getting a 3.5/5 for this section.
ClutchBet has three ways to contact support. If you’re looking for live chat, that’s not available here, and their customer support has room for improvement.
The FAQs section is a great example: the covered questions are helpful and well-answered. However, there just aren’t enough of them.
ClutchBet claims to have a live chat support button, but when you open it, it’s simply a form that lets you submit a ticket and wait for a response via email. I prefer traditional, in-person, live chat support.
However, the sportsbook does get points for including phone support, which isn’t especially common in US sportsbooks. You can call customer support at 1-888-368-2221. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful during our tests.
The complete list of options is here:
Submit a ticket via the chat box
Email support at [email protected]
Phone support on 1 888 368 2221
I am rating them a 3.5/5 for their customer support.
ClutchBet has a good Responsible Gambling section, providing excellent information, practical tools, and services to encourage healthy gambling practices. If using a site that offers much support to its bettors is essential to you, ClutchBet is perfect.
I am taking some marks off because it’s a little hard to find on the platform and is accessible via a small button at the bottom of the page.
There are informative articles describing responsible gambling, how to tell if you have a problem, and how to help friends or family. The information is thorough and helpful, and it includes links to external support resources like the Problem Gambling Coalition of Colorado, the Colorado Gaming Commission, and the National Council on Problem Gambling.
ClutchBet has its tools to help manage your gambling, too, including the following:
Preset table limits for both deposits and losses.
Monthly activity statements
Temporary and permanent self-exclusion options
ClutchBet receives a 4.5/5 in this section.
ClutchBet is just making its way in the US sports betting market, and so far it is present in only three states: Colorado, Iowa, and Louisiana. As I've mentioned already, I imagine the list of ClutchBet legal states will expand down the road. Indiana has been floated as the likely next stop for the sportsbook.
State | Launch Date | Link |
---|---|---|
Colorado | April 26, 2023 | N/A |
Iowa | Sept. 18, 2023 | N/A |
Louisiana | Jan. 30, 2024 | N/A |
If you are looking for other sportsbooks located in these states, check out:
Signing up to either ClutchBet CO or ClutchBet IA is very straightforward and pretty much on par with the other top sportsbooks in both states. Sportsbooks are legally required to gather the same information about everyone who bets on their platforms, so the process tends to be pretty uniform.
Still, ClutchBet does a great job of making it as simple as possible. Here’s our step-by-step guide for beginners:
Click our secure link to get started. There are three steps to complete your registration.
Fill out the account info on the first screen. This includes creating a username and password, as well as supplying your email address and phone number. When you’re done, click continue.
Fill out the personal information on the next screen. That includes your name, date of birth, address, and gender. Click Continue when you’re done.
Accept the site rules on the last screen. You’ll need to check a couple of boxes and provide some details about your SSN to confirm your identity. This screen is also your opportunity to use promo code "CLUTCH250" to unlock a specific welcome bonus.
That’s it. Once your account is up and running, you make a deposit and place your first bet to trigger your Bonus Bet.
ClutchBet is still a relative newcomer to the world of US sports betting, and I think there is a lot more to come from this sportsbook - and I like what I see so far.
There are lots of positives. The welcome bonus package is great and offers genuine value for bettors of all sizes. We like that it extends over five weeks, and the Bonus Bet format is nice and easy to understand. A total of $250 in bonuses is great too.
I love the variety of the running promos and the fact that they are spread around different sports. It’s exciting to open up the Promotions section and see what happens at any given time. The biggest star of the show at ClutchBet is the Player Matchups tool, which is an extremely fun and novel way to build parlays and see how the top players stack up against each other. The other parlay building tools are great too. I'm a big fan.
In terms of improvements, I'd like to see more payment methods added, starting with bank cards. The customer support options could also be improved, especially with the addition of a functioning live chat service.
Overall, there is more than enough to like for ClutchBet to get a thumbs up from us and a 4/5 rating.
Our system for rating for sportsbooks is based around one core tenet: we personally sign up and start betting. Everything in our reviews is based on first-hand experience. We’re not just repeating what the sportsbook advertises, or what other information is out there, we’re actually reporting what we have discovered ourselves.
Before they write a word, we ask our experts to spend at least two hours each engaging with each of the following six factors:
User Experience - We sign up and systematically explore everything a site has to offer, taking into consideration both the aesthetics and how well designed it is from a navigation point of view. It takes time to really get a sense of what makes a site unique and how it feels to use, and we don’t rush this part of the process.
Features - We test out the specific services and features of the sportsbook. That goes for simple things like placing moneyline bets to the unique features that make the site stand out - like ClutchBet’s Player Matchup tool.
Promotions - We systematically opt-into every single promotion available to us, to determine how well each one works, how easy it is to claim, how valuable it is and more. We pay special attention to any confusing terms and conditions, to lay them out clearly for our readers.
Deposits and Withdrawals - We personally test out every single method for both deposits and withdrawals, taking into account ease of use, fees, limits, and processing times. This process can take days and even weeks to complete.
Customer Support - We use a preselected set of questions to get in touch with the customer support staff at every site we review, so we can assess how well they are answered. We also go through the FAQs and other resources in the help section, and test out every different channel for contacting the support team.
Responsible Gambling - We explore what steps the sportsbook takes to encourage responsible gambling. That could be including links to external support organizations, simple informative articles explaining how gambling problems manifest themselves, and in-house tools to manage your gambling - like reality checks and self-exclusion.
We also have a team of post-production editors who dedicate five hours per month to ensure our reviews remain accurate and current.
Our reliability is based on decades of experience in US gambling. Our team consists of sports betting fans, first and foremost, and they have seen everything there is to see in the world of online gambling over more than 20 years. Everything published on WSN.com is based on first-hand testing and years of expertise and experience.
Our goal is to present what we find clearly and (hopefully!) in an entertaining way to give our readers all the information they need before they decide to sign up for a sportsbook.
Responsible gambling is a huge part of what we do here at WSN.com. We’re all massive sports betting fans, but equally, we recognize the dangers inherent in the activity. Gambling of all kinds is a form of entertainment, not a smart way to try to make money.
Sports betting can be addictive and harmful to vulnerable people, and there is a lot of support out there if you or anyone you know is struggling.
The Colorado Gaming Control Commission has lots of resources for people in CO.
Likewise, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission provides support for people in IA.
Louisiana Association on Compulsive Gambling is a key resource for the state.
On a national level, the National Council on Problem Gambling has practical advice for anyone who needs help or is just looking for more information about responsible gambling. You can call 1-800-GAMBLER or text 800GAM to get in touch.
