Our rating method is straightforward. We put in the time and energy to examine each sportsbook firsthand, from the perspective of a regular bettor. We’re convinced that the only way to assess a platform's strengths and weaknesses is through direct interaction. This ensures that our reviews are credible, authentic, and always based on original experience and opinions. We only recommend the very best sportsbooks in the industry.
We require our experts to commit at least two hours to research these six key areas:
User Experience: We start our review process by signing up and exploring the sportsbook, paying particular attention to the visual appeal and functionality. Is it user-friendly, fluid, and quick to load? How efficient is the performance across different devices, including desktop and app? This process is all about gauging how the sportsbook feels to use.
Features: We explore the range of sports and betting markets, looking for popular and niche options. We also like to see unique features like live betting, DFS, picking services, and early cash-out.
Promotions: We assess the value of all available bonuses, focusing on the terms and conditions. We have a plenty of time for sportsbooks, with a generous welcome bonus, a rewarding loyalty program, and ongoing promotions. We opt-into every single promo on offer, going through the whole process from claiming it to cashing out any winnings we accrue, paying special attention to any extra requirements.
Deposits and Withdrawals: We go through the payment process for every single method on offer, from making deposits to requesting withdrawals, so that we can evaluate the variety of methods, speed, and how user-friendly the process is.
Customer Support: We contact customer support through all available channels, such as email, live chat, or phone number. We have a series of questions that we use to test their helpfulness and efficiency. We also explore the help section or the list of FAQs, which also improves the overall user experience.
Responsible Gambling: We highly regard sportsbooks that highlight the importance of responsible gambling, whether through educational resources, links to support organizations, and specific features like deposit/bet limits, time-outs, or self-exclusion
Our process continues after this, as our post-publication editors must commit five hours monthly to updating our reviews according to any changes.
At WSN, our primary goal is to be a knowledgeable and trusted guide for bettors. We delve into each sportsbook, adopting the viewpoint of a bettor. This user-focused approach is essential to our reviews. Furthermore, we’re dedicated to keeping our content fresh and accurate, adapting to the latest changes in the industry.
We draw on our extensive experience in the field to deliver informed insights and opinions on each sportsbook. We include everything in our reviews, the good and the bad. It’s all based on our original research. Our team is not just reviewers but avid bettors themselves, so we know what we’re talking about.
Ultimately, we want to guide you through sports betting with confidence and knowledge.

After PASPA was overturned, the Oregon Lottery established its betting platform, Scoreboard. For a short while, it was the exclusive mobile sportsbook in Oregon, powered by the technology of SBTech.
In August 2019, Oregon welcomed its first retail sportsbook with the opening of the Chinook Winds Casino Resort.
However, when DraftKings acquired SBTech, this betting titan agreed to partner with the Oregon Lottery. This collaboration led to DraftKings taking over from Scoreboard in January 2022, becoming the only available sportsbook throughout the state. BetMGM’s mobile sportsbook can only be accessed from Spirit Mountain Casino but nowhere else in Oregon.
Setting up your account and placing your first wager at a sportsbook in Oregon is very straightforward. We’ve provided a detailed step-by-step guide to assist you, if you’re new to sports betting.

Sportsbooks offer great promotions and bonuses to attract new bettors and retain the loyalty of existing users. Remember to always read the terms and conditions before claiming any bonus.
Here are some standard welcome bonuses:
Bonus bets are like betting credits that can only be used on the sportsbook. They can’t be exchanged for money or withdrawn. If you win with a bonus bet, you don’t get the same payout you would with a regular bet. Instead, you get to keep the profits only, with the value of the stake excluded from your returns. Bonus bets may have other restrictions too, such as not being able to use them on enhanced odds bets or in combination with other bonuses.
You are provided a safety net with this bonus, as you can recover your first wager if it loses. The sportsbook will reimburse the value of your first bet in bonus bets, which you must use to wager before they can be withdrawn. The total amount you can get refunded can be quite high, so it is perfect for bettors who want to place a large bet from the get-go.
A deposit match bonus is when the sportsbook matches some or all of your initial deposit up to a limit, in the form of bonus bets or site credit. Therefore, the more you deposit, the more you can gain from this offer. It is more commonly found at online casinos but is sometimes available as a welcome bonus for sportsbooks.
This is a bonus that requires no deposit or wager from you. It is a rare offer and tends to be of lesser value, often a bonus bet of around $10 or $20. To claim this bonus, all you have to do is register with the sportsbook. However, it is worth noting that you might have to meet other conditions to withdraw any winnings down the line, like first making a real money deposit.
Nowadays, placing a sports bet is as simple as a few taps on your phone. Mobile sportsbooks have entirely changed the way that we engage with online betting. DraftKings provides a leading sportsbook app with impressive ratings of 4.7/5 on the App Store and 4.6/5 on the Google Play Store.
In Oregon, bettors can enjoy a huge range of betting markets. Whether you are a newcomer or a seasoned bettor, or you are into mainstream or niche sports, there is something for everyone to enjoy. If you’re a beginner, you might wonder what the different bets mean. Below, we’ve outlined the most popular types of bets available in Oregon:
This is a popular bet where you wager on which team or individual will win a game. It is as simple as that. The payout is determined by the odds, which reflect each team’s perceived chances of winning. Learn how to read odds lines before you start betting.
Let's take a look at moneyline bet example:
LA Clippers (-800)
POR Trail Blazers (+550)
With understanding moneyline odds, it’s helpful to think in terms of $100. Here, the Clippers are a huge favorite. You’d need to bet $800 on them to win $100, for a total payout of $900. For the Blazers, you’d have to bet $100 to win $550, resulting in $650 if they win. There is more to moneyline than reading the odds; find out more in our monyeline betting guide.
Point spread bets involve betting on the margin of victory. The sportsbook sets a spread to even out the strength difference between teams, which creates a more balanced betting situation. The favorite team must beat the spread, while the underdog has to win outright or lose by fewer points than the spread. It can look like this:
LA Clippers -12.5 (-105)
POR Trail Blazers +12.5 (-115)
As the favorite, the Clippers have to win by 13 points or more to win a bet on the spread. The Blazers would either have to win or avoid losing by 13 points. Even a 10 or 12 point loss for the Blazers would be enough to win your bet on them against the spread. Points spread bets tend to have odds around -110 for each side. If this seems complicated, we elaborated further on point spread betting in our betting guide.
With a totals bet, also known as over/under betting, you wager on whether the combined score of both teams will be over or under a set number. This kind of bet allows you to place a wager on the game’s result without focusing on who wins or loses. Here is an example:
LA Clippers vs. POR Trail Blazers:
Over 215.5 (-105)
Under 215.5 (-115)
In this case, since the Clippers are such a massive favorite, a totals bet is a good way to bet on the game without worrying about the huge disparity in odds. Learn how to recognize a good betting opportunity by checking out our over/under betting guide.
Future bets involve predicting events that are set to happen well into the future, like championship winners. This kind of bet drums up excitement for future events and gives you something to root for long term, often before the season starts. For instance, if you’re an avid fan of the Portland Trail Blazers, you can make a future bet well in advance that they’ll win the NBA Championships.
Is there more to future bets than guessing? Find out in our futures betting guide.
Prop betting focuses on specific events in a game that don’t necessarily affect the outcome. It is a more detailed wager covering situations like player or team performance, stats, and other occurrences. You might bet on the number of yellow cards in a soccer game, touchdowns in a football game, or the first team to score in a hockey game. There are also odd Super Bowl novelty prop bets. Learn more about them and much more in our prop bets betting guide.
Parlays allow you to combine multiple bets into a single wager. For a parlay to be successful, each of the individual bets has to win. While there is the potential for a high payout, which makes it attractive, parlays also carry a significant risk. Teasers let you adjust totals or point spreads in a parlay in your favor but for a lower payout. Try to mitigate the risks by learning more by reading our parlay betting guide.
Live betting involves placing bets on a game as it unfolds. The odds are continually updated according to the score and other relevant events. This kind of betting requires quick judgment as bettors react to the game as it happens. DraftKings is renowned for providing excellent live betting and streaming features, perfect for Oregon bettors. Check out our live betting guide to learn more.
For Oregon betting, there are a few restrictions to be aware of:
You cannot bet on any entertainment or awards ceremonies.
It is not permitted to wager on politics.
Esports betting has not been legalized in Oregon.
Betting on college sports is not allowed.
Betting college sports in Oregon is not legal, but tribal casinos have different rules, so you can find wagering options there.

After legalizing sports betting in October 2019, Oregon has produced a total revenue of $1.8 billion. For context, it has a population of around 4.2 million. The state is difficult to compare to others that have legalized online betting, as it only has one sportsbook.
However, a good point of comparison is New Hampshire, as the state also has DraftKings as a sole operator and legalized online sports betting in December 2019. New Hampshire has a total betting revenue of $2.7 billion and only has a population of 1.4 million, so we can say that Oregon is trailing behind in terms of revenue. However, in more recent times, it does seem that it is on par with New Hampshire, as both were generating monthly revenues of around $70 million at the start of 2024.
Oregon has one of the lowest tax rates at 2.75% for retail and online sports betting. New Hampshire has a huge tax rate agreement of 51% with DraftKings, the highest in the US, along with New York. Other tax rates fluctuate, but Nevada and Michigan have low tax rates.
Oregon has a complicated history with sports betting, as one of the few states to receive an exception from PASPA. Sports Action was introduced in 1989 and was allowed to continue operating until it was discontinued in 2007. A couple of months after PASPA was overturned, Oregon introduced its own online sportsbook, which DraftKings eventually took over.
Here is a timeline of events:
March 29, 2023 - DraftKings introduces its horse-racing app to the state.
June 22, 2022 - Oregon welcomes Caesars Racebook to its betting market.
Feb. 15, 2022 - Bill 1503 is introduced in an effort to legalize college sports betting.
Jan. 18, 2022 - DraftKings begins overseeing mobile sports betting in Oregon.
October 2019 - The Oregon Lottery unveils the Scoreboard sportsbook, which allows online sports betting.
August 2019 - The introduction of a sports betting lounge at Chinook Winds Casino Resort marks the return of sports betting in Oregon.
May 2018 - The Supreme Court strikes down PASPA, which allows states to make their own laws regarding sports betting.
July 2007 - The Sports Action betting platform is discontinued following the enactment of HB 3466 by the Oregon State Legislature after pressure from the NCAA.
October 1992 - The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) federally bans sports betting, though Oregon is among the few states granted an exemption due to a pre-existing clause.
September 1989 - Oregon introduces Sports Action, a betting platform that sparks a new era in the state’s sports betting history.
Yes, DFS is legal in Oregon. DraftKings’ agreement with the state stipulated that it would suspend its DFS platform, but it is possible to use FanDuel’s platform.
Oregon might have only one professional sports team, but due to their proximity, loyal fans can be found for teams like the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Marines. The only major league team in Oregon is the Portland Trail Blazers, who play in the NFL. Although they haven’t seen many recent victories, they secured an NFL Championship back in 1977.
The Portland Trail Blazers don’t have sportsbook partnerships, and no other major league teams exist in the state.
Oregon provides various resources for those dealing with gambling issues. There are a few support organizations that ensure support is readily available:
The Oregon Problem Gambling Helpline offers free service via phone at (877) 695-4648, live chat, or text messages for those facing gambling challenges. You can also explore informative resources on the website.
The Oregon Council for Problem Gambling provides educational resources to help prevent gambling issues. It also provides links to groups that offer support.
Sportsbooks have specific tools to assist in regulating your betting activity:
Deposit/wager limits: You can limit your deposit and betting amounts.
Time alerts: You are given notifications about your activity on a site.
Time-outs/self-exclusion: You can take a temporary or permanent break from a sportsbook.
