Tottenham need to become more consistent if they are to finish in the top four this season. Their last eight fixtures before the World Cup yielded four victories and the same number of defeats. That is simply not good enough for a team that faces stiff competition for a Champions League qualification spot.
It can take Tottenham time to get going within games, and Brentford will be ready and raring to go after very few of their players were involved in Qatar (and none played in the knockout stage). The Bees should get some joy against opponents who have not kept a clean sheet in their last five games.

Crystal Palace have become pretty reliable at home under Patrick Vieira. Their only two defeats at Selhurst Park this term were inflicted by Arsenal and Chelsea, two members of the big six. Palace won their last three home games before the break for the World Cup.
The score has been level at the interval in a majority of Palace’s matches in front of their own fans in 2022/23, and that could be the case again here. Fulham concede plenty of goals but they do pack a punch in attack, so the Cottagers will fancy their chances of still being in the game at the midway point.

Newcastle have the joint-best defensive record in the Premier League as the season gets set to resume. With just 11 goals conceded in 15 matches, their opponents have found it immensely difficult to prise open a backline that has been expertly drilled by Eddie Howe.
After a poor start, Leicester were playing much better soccer in the last few weeks before the World Cup. They look to have turned a corner, having scored at least two goals in four of their last five matches. Back over 2.5 in total here.

There is still a long way to go in the Premier League title, but a five-point lead at the summit of the standings gives Arsenal hope that this really could be their year. Mikel Arteta’s men won 12 of their first 14 games and will be looking to emerge victorious in this London derby on Boxing Day.
West Ham struggled to get going in the first part of the campaign, leaving David Moyes’ men just a point outside the relegation zone. Back Arsenal to come out on top in the late game on Monday.
