The Ride the Line podcast by Tanner Kern and Grant Mitchell is back for another episode to talk all about the best MLB betting picks for Wednesday.
Sadly, Grant was unable to feature in the show because of technical difficulties, but Tanner brought the energy in his absence. One of his favorite bets of the day is the Toronto Blue Jays moneyline against the Miami Marlins in what is the third and final game of this week’s series.
Tanner likes the Jays because of Kevin Gausman (6-3, 3.01 ERA) and the way he has dominated teams for the majority of the campaign. His counterpart will be Sandy Alcantara (2-5, 4.97 ERA), who has not been on the same level.
Miami has played well at home and significantly exceeded expectations this season, but the visitors won 2-0 Tuesday night and are in a nice spot to pick up a second consecutive win, according to Tanner.
Tanner’s second pick of the show is the Chicago Cubs on the moneyline against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He believes this pick makes itself both because of the consistent performances of the starting pitchers and both teams’ recent form.
The Cubs are starting Kyle Hendricks, who is 2-2 with a 2.86 ERA thus far. His ERA also drops to 2.37 in the month of June and he gets to continue against a Pirates team that is far from a dominant crew. On the other side, 43-year-old Rich Hill is 6-6 with a 4.31 ERA and has lost three of his last five starts.
The Pirates have also lost eight straight games, whereas the Cubs have won nine of their last 11. The logic here is easy to follow.
Tanner’s final pick of the show is the Diamondback's moneyline against the Brewers. Tanner believes heavily in Zac Gallen, who has been a model of consistency and is 8-2 overall with a 2.96 ERA.
Gallen’s opponent on the mound is expected to be Julio Teheran who, although has an ERA under two, has played about 1/3 of the innings and is less of a guarantee.
The Brewers bounced back from a Monday loss to the Diamondbacks to win 7-5 Tuesday, but if anything, that makes Tanner even more confident in the visitors. They have been great at responding all year, which is part of why they lead the National League West with a 44-30 record, and that trend should hold Wednesday.
