Jack Hammer is a comic book meets online slot, with a whole world taking place on five reels, based around detective Jack Hammer trying to take down the mad Dr. Wuten. I’m taking the magnifying glass to this game in my Jack Hammer slot review, including the best features, pros and cons, where to play, and much more.
🥇 The best online casino to play Jack Hammer slot is BetMGM Casino. 🥇

Jack Hammer slot was launched in 2010 by NetEnt, one of the top casino software developers, and it offers an interesting blend of casino slots and 80s comic-style visuals. The game was so popular that it has two sequels: Jack Hammer 2 (RTP 97.07%) and Jack Hammer 3: Diamond Affair (RTP 96.08%).
One of my favorite things about Jack Hammer slot and series is how immersive it is. The graphics and music are reminiscent of 1940s film noir, with a detective trying to bust a crime boss, and the design holds up well even after more than a decade. The 25 comic-strip style paylines are clearly labeled around the edge of reels, and the game’s above average RTP and low volatility make it very friendly for casual players.

Jack Hammer is available at the majority of the most popular online casinos in the United States, including my top picks, which are displayed above. All of the casinos we recommend here on WSN are fully licensed and regulated in the US, but the availability of online casinos differs from state to state.
One of my favorite places to play Jack Hammer is at FanDuel Casino, which has one of the best casino mobile apps I’ve used. Jack Hammer’s graphics look great on the smaller screen and it’s a joy to play the game on the go, thanks to the FanDuels Casino app.
If you’re looking to play the spin-offs, FanDuel Casino has you covered there, too. Jack Hammer 3 is available as well, with an expanded set of reels and paylines.
I also like playing Jack Hammer at BetMGM Casino due to its MGM Rewards program that allows me to rack up points with every play, and that’s a great thing when playing a low-volatility slot with a high RTP.
For the same reason, the Jack Hammer slot is a great option to choose when you’re trying to complete the wagering requirements on some bonus cash. Bear that in mind when choosing your favorite Jack Hammer casino.
If you’re in a state that hasn’t legalized online casinos, you can try some of the best sweepstakes casinos and play casino games without spending a dime. One social casino where I’ve played Jack Hammer is McLuck, which includes the game as part of its progressive jackpot feature.
Sweepstakes casinos let you play games like Jack Hammer for free with either Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins, and, depending on the state, you can even redeem real cash prizes.
Jack Hammer has an above avreage RTP of 96.96%, low volatility, and a maximum payout of 1,000x your bet.
With the industry standard RTP set almost a full percentage point lower, this is one of the more player-friendly slots you can play. The tradeoff, of course, is that the jackpot isn’t very high, and the low volatility means your wins won’t be very big.
To go a little deeper, here’s what those figures mean exactly.
The average RTP for online slots is 96%, which means for every $100 wagered, the game returns $96 to the player on average. Jack Hammer offers a 96.96% RTP, which is high for online slots and much higher than what you’d find at a physical slot machine.
One thing I’ve noticed about NetEnt slots is that there’s a wide range of RTPs for their games. Some of the more popular games, such as Gonzo’s Quest, actually go under the average with an RTP of 95.97%. Others, such as Jack Hammer 2, get into the 97% range (97.07%) or even higher.
When playing a NetEnt slot, you should always check the RTP to make sure you understand how it pays out. It’s good practice to do this anyway, but it’s especially important with NetEnt’s wide range.
A volatility rating measures how often a slot pays and how large your wins are. A low volatility slot like Jack Hammer pays out smaller amounts on a regular basis. Higher-volatility slots will pay out less frequently, but there’s a much bigger chance of a big win at once.
Jack Hammer is low volatility, which makes it perfect for those who want to play for a long time. I found that I started hitting wins pretty quickly and consistently, but my wins often weren’t much more than my original wager.
While the jackpot is on the lower end at 1,000x your bet, with wagers ranging from $0.25 to $250 and a maximum payout of 750,000 coins, it still offers a potential payout of $750,000. With low volatility, this game’s better for those who want the experience of playing rather than chasing a big payday.
Jack Hammer includes Wilds, Multipliers, Free Spins, and Sticky Wins. While many modern slots strive to include a lot of special features and bonuses, Jack Hammer tends to be a little more basic in this area. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. These features are more than enough, in my opinion.
The Wild symbol on Jack Hammer is pretty obvious: it’s the word Wild. It can be used to substitute for anything except a Free Spin symbol, and it can be used as part of the Sticky Wins feature I’ll touch on shortly.
It doesn’t multiply your winnings like some Wilds other slots will, but with how common wins are and how the Sticky Win feature works, it’s a helpful addition.
This is my favorite bonus feature with Jack Hammer. Whenever you trigger a win, Jack Hammer will lock the symbols that make up the winning line and spin the other reels again. For example, if you win on the first three middle reels, the slot will lock those three spaces and spin the other 12 slots independently.
If your respin lands another win, the new symbols lock, and you get another free spin. You’ll keep getting free spins until the spin doesn’t increase your win, at which point the slot will pay out all existing wins.
In a game without many big one-off payouts, I found the Sticky Wins feature to be a good avenue into hitting bigger wins. I ended up getting a couple of 10x+ payouts in this way, which is pretty unlikely from any single spin.
To get Jack Hammer free spins, you have to collect bomb symbols. If you trigger at least five bombs, you’ll get at least 10 free spins. The more bomb symbols you uncover, the higher your free spin total will be. If you can fill the reel with bomb symbols, you’ll get 30 free spins.
More good news with your free spins: free spin wins pay out at 3x the normal payout. If you can get a good number of wins off your free spin totals, that can really boost your bankroll.
While this bonus game is definitely potentially very valuable, I did find it took me a lot of spins to trigger it, which is why I preferred the Sticky Wins feature overall.
Jack Hammer slot offers a truly immersive experience in its world, similar to playing the Dick Tracy video games when I was growing up. That’s one reason for its popularity: people who grew up playing arcade games and reading comics will appreciate the world-building that comes with Jack Hammer.
The slot layout is five reels and 25 paylines, but it’s a little more complex than that. That’s because the 15 symbol windows all spin independently of each other (rather than a reel with fixed symbols above and below), which comes into play with the Sticky Wins feature.
You can easily adjust your bet among a wide range of potential wagers, starting from $0.25 and going to $250, and there’s a turbo feature and an autospin feature that let you play a lot of spins quickly.
In my opinion, the attractive design means this game isn’t really ideal for players who simply want to play quickly, but it’s nice that the feature is there for those who do want it.
The game genuinely feels like a 1940s film noir scene that comes straight out of a Marvel or DC comic book. The paylines resemble a comic strip, and the audio adds to the immersive experience, with jazzy music and the bustling sounds of the city at night.
The graphics are very good, both distinctive and interesting, even after more than a decade. I love the way the symbols hint at the wider narrative of the world, like the gloved hand holding what appears to be a bottle of poison and the plaster that adorns the face of Jack himself.
My one complaint with Jack Hammer is that the chance for a big win just isn’t there. You’re going to be able to play for a while, but you’re not likely to see much in the way of big wins. And that’s what you get with a low-volatility slot; you’re sacrificing big jackpot wins for smaller, more frequent payouts.
Similar titles exist on the comic book theme, such as Thor, Andy Capp, or Downtown. But Andy Capp doesn’t have a very high RTP and Downtown leans too heavily on playing card symbols for my taste, compared with the original symbols at Jack Hammer.
For this reason, I’m quite happy to play Jack Hammer, as the RTP means that I can confidently play for a while without breaking the bank.
Jack Hammer does a great job offering a truly immersive experience while including a player-friendly RTP. It’s a well-designed game that offers an immersive theme and does it well.
With the Sticky Wins feature and a 96.96% RTP, there are many ways to win. Offering 25 paylines and 5 reels with 15 independent windows makes the game a little different, but not too much to overwhelm beginners.
I appreciate the free spins feature, but this slot is more about the immersive experience and the chance to pick up small wins regularly. The free spins won’t come often, but they’re a nice feature when they arrive.
I do wish there was a little more of a chance for a big win and it means that Jack Hammer isn’t a good choice for jackpot hunters. Interestingly, NetEnt addressed that issue with Jack Hammer 3’s medium volatility, so you can get the feel of chasing criminals and jackpots with the option of bigger payouts.
Overall, I enjoy Jack Hammer and I’ll recommend it to anyone that wants to jump into a comic book world that will let them play for a long time at once.
