The game is based on the classic children’s story of the Three Little Pigs as they try to protect their houses from the Big Bad Wolf. Huff N’ More Puff features bonus features and symbols that all tie nicely into the game’s theme.
Huff N’ More Puff is produced by Light & Wonder, which creates both land-based and online slot games. The first Huff N’ Puff game in a series was released in 2017 and has since launched sequels, including Huff N’ More Puff, Huff N’ Even More Puff, and Huff N’ Puff Money Mansion. If FanDuel Casino isn’t available in your state, you can still try a demo version of Huff N’ More Puff on developer Light & Wonder’s website. You can also find the stand-up slot game at land-based casinos across the US.
For players living in states that haven’t legalized real-money casinos, sweepstakes casinos offer players the opportunity to enjoy casino-style games without wagering money. I couldn’t find any of the Huff N’ Puff games at the sweepstakes casinos I searched, but there are several other Three Little Pigs-based slot games available, like Three Little Pigs (Everi) and Wolf & Piggies Chase (Spinomenal).
Huff N’ More Puff has a return to player (RTP) of 96.01%, with a medium volatility and a maximum payout of 5,500x. These stats place Huff N’ More Puff right in the middle of most online slots, making it a good choice for all kinds of players.
Let’s take a closer look at what those figures mean.
Huff N’ More Puff’s 96.01% RTP score is right on the average for online video slots, which sits at 96%. This means that for every $100 wagered on this game, players can expect to see an average return of 96.01%, or $96.01.
I checked another slot in the Huff N’ Puff series, Huff N’ Even More Puff, which has an RTP of 96%. It’s good to see Light & Wonder keeps their games consistent so players can expect a positive experience every time.
The volatility rating refers to how often a slot pays out winnings and how large those wins are.
With a medium volatility rating, Huff N’ More Puff is right in the middle, with a nice mix of decent payouts and not too many dead spins. The bonus features - which are the key to bigger payouts - add some challenge to the gameplay, but I was able to land on them enough that I never found this game too difficult.
Serious gamblers may prefer a higher volatility game, but in my opinion Huff N’ More Puff’s medium volatility makes it an ideal game for a free spin casino promo, like FanDuel Casino is running.
The maximum payout with this game is 5,500x. To collect that top payout, Huff N’ More Puff has four jackpots that you can win by spinning the Bonus Wheel. Land on the Grand Jackpot symbol, and you can win a sweet $500,000.
Huff N’ More Puff has packed the bonus features into this game. I recommend reading through the game rules in the information menu, as there’s plenty to learn, but I’m covering everything here too.
Bonus features include Wild and Scatter Symbols, Free Spins, a Bonus Wheel, and three different bonus games.
The Wild Symbol in this game is the Big Bad Wolf himself. The wolf appears only in reels 2, 3, and 4 and substitutes for all symbols except the hard hat or the buzz saw. During my tests, at least one Wild showed up pretty regularly, every four or five spins on average.
There are two scatter symbols in Huff N’ More Puff: the hard hat and the circular buzzsaw. The buzz saw launches the Bonus Wheel, while the hard hat triggers the free spins round as well as upgrading the frames that surround each symbol.
Symbols can be framed by straw, sticks, or bricks. These frames award multipliers to symbols during the different bonus rounds, which I’m going to explain.
I found the different frames a little confusing the first time I triggered the bonus round, but I got the hang of what was happening pretty quickly.
Land six or more hard hat symbols to trigger the Free Spins round. You’ll receive six spins to start, but you can also earn additional free spins. One free spin is awarded every time you land three or more hard hats within this round.
The free spins round is played on a different reel than the base game. Apart from the slight change of scenery, the only major difference is that the buzz saw doesn’t appear in this round.
Apart from the scatters, the Free Spins round can also be triggered if you land on one of the three games that are featured on the Bonus Wheel.
To play the Bonus Wheel, you need to land three or more buzz saws in a single spin. A large wheel will appear on the screen that offers seven different prizes, and players can spin the wheel one time.
Prizes on the Bonus Wheel include the Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand Jackpots listed on top of the reel. The value of each jackpot varies depending on your bet amount. You can also spin the wheel to land one of three extra bonuses: Buzz Saw, Mega Hat, and Mansion.
If both the wheel and free spins are triggered at the same time in the base game, the Bonus Wheel will play through first.
When the Buzz Saw feature is triggered, any buzz saws that land on the next spin will spring into action. They buzz through any other reels to exit on the right side and turn those symbols into a hard hat.
For example, a buzz saw on reel 2 will buzz through reels 3, 4, and 5, giving you a total of four hard hats on the screen. These hard hats then count toward a new free spins round.
The Mega Hat feature expands a hard hat that lands on the game reel. The symbol can expand to either 2x2, 3x3, or 3x5.
Each position covered by a Mega Hat is changed to a straw frame. A free spins round is then triggered with the straw frames in place, with frames changing to sticks or bricks each time a hard hat lands there.
During the Mansion feature, a round of six free spins is played. Buzz saws instantly award the position they land on with a brick frame, which is the highest level. Like with other free spins rounds, three or more hard hats will award an extra spin.
After completing the Free Spins Round or the Hard Hat, Buzz Saw, or Mansion bonus games, multiplier and jackpot awards will be given based on the value of the frames around the symbols. Awards for straw, wood, and brick houses are as follows:
Playing the Huff N’ More Puff slot was a lot of fun for me, thanks to its entertaining design and the nostalgic feel of a favorite nursery rhyme.
The 5-reel, 3-row game is set against a backdrop of bright green trees with the Bonus Wheel hiding in the background. Each of the three little pigs appears as a game symbol, and I love how during the regular game the Big Bad Wolf lurks just off screen with the swish of his tail appearing as a reminder.
Game controls and information are framed around the main reel. The four jackpot prizes - Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand - appear across the top. Down the right-hand side, you can change your bet amount, trigger the autoplay feature, and find the large spin button. Balance and win totals are on the bottom, and the game settings and Buy Pass feature are on the left.
Although I found that I was able to land the bonus features fairly often, I appreciate that Huff N’ More Puff lets you access them with the Buy Pass feature. You can access the Free Spins or Bonus Wheel feature starting at $10 for a $0.20 bet in gameplay, with the ability to increase your price and stakes.
Twangy country music plays in the background. It’s fitting for the rural vibe of pigs building their straw houses, but I had to turn it off after a while because I found it grating.
However, I did enjoy the animated touches in the game. From the buzz saw revving up to the Big Bad Wolf howling when he contributes to a winning payline, the graphics added a lively, fun touch to playing Huff N’ More Puff.
The Huff N’ More Puff slot provides a fun and engaging playing experience. The popularity of this game in land-based casinos is a good sign that there’s also an audience for it online.
This game features an RTP of 96.01%, medium volatility, and a top jackpot of 5,500x. Its layout of 5 reels and 3 rows will be familiar to slots fans, with 243 paylines providing ample opportunities to win.
The bonus features kept me entertained for hours, although it did take me a second to fully understand all of their features. It was fun to see if I would land the Buzz Saw, Mega Hat, or Mansion when I spun the Bonus Wheel.
There’s enough in this game to keep experienced players challenged, but the fun theme and straightforward base game will attract new players too. Huff N’ More Puff has definitely inspired me to seek out the other games in this series.
