The Joker character is the Wild Symbol; no surprise there. You can land her symbol in reels 2, 3, or 4. 

Whenever the symbol landed on a winning payline for me, I was pleasantly surprised to see the Joker expand to fill the reel, potentially triggering additional wins every time it happens. The expansion animations look great, too.

The Wild Symbol can replace any regular play symbols, but excludes the golden rose symbol and the J-O-K-E-R free spin symbols.

Scatter Symbols/Free Spins

The Scatter Symbols highlight the game’s joker theme, consisting of the letters J, O, K, E, and R on reels 1 to 5, respectively. Landing J-O-K-E on a spin will increase the Free Spins multiplier by 0.5x, and spelling J-O-K-E-R will trigger the Free Spins round.

The Free Spins round awards 4 free spins. Each Scatter Symbol landed during this round awards either one additional free spin or increases the Free Spins multiplier by 1x. When I unlocked the free spins, the Scatter Symbols awarded 8 extra spins for a total of 12.

This is a way more interesting and creative type of scatter symbol than I’m used to, and trying to spell the word brought a new dimension to the game. Compared with games like Wolf Gold, where you just need to land three identical scatters anywhere on the reels to trigger your bonus, this felt much more engaging to me. 

Free Spins Multiplier

The Free Spins multiplier is displayed in the upper-right corner of the game. It can increase during the base game to a maximum of 10x and in the Free Spins round to a maximum of 15x. Getting that max multiplier of 15x combined with the game’s 720 paylines can definitely lead to some big payouts.

Fire and Roses Joker offers an interesting playing experience. From the bold visual design to the changing multipliers and jackpots, I always have a great time playing this game.

The first thing you’ll notice is the Joker (her name is Jolene) standing prominently to the left side of the grid. She’s a sassy character who likes to comment on the gameplay, so I recommend having your sound on to hear what Jolene has to say.

In addition to Jolene’s dialogue, you’ll hear pulsing music and the “cha-ching” of coins. It can make the overall sound feel a bit cluttered, and I think they could do with removing or toning down one of these elements.

The slot reel is to Jolene’s right, with its diamond-shaped formation. The regular-play symbols include hearts, diamonds, clubs, spades, dice, cherries, number 7s, and playing cards. The game pays lines in both directions, from left-to-right and right-to-left, which accounts for the high total of 720 paylines.

Along the bottom of the screen, you’ll find your total balance, a toggle to adjust your bet, the Spin button, and a field that displays your wins. You’ll also find the settings, paytable, and help info there.

As the name implies, images of fire and roses appear throughout the game’s design. I find the two really striking together, and I appreciate that the game is as interesting to look at as it is to play. It feels like a fully realized theme. 

Fire and Roses Joker slot is clearly trying to make itself stand out in the world of online slots. There are several Joker-themed slots on the market, like 6 Jokers (Pragmatic Play) and Joker Flip (Play’n Go), but in my opinion, Fire and Roses Joker comes out ahead in both design and complexity.

The Jackpot Wheel is a great bonus feature. I enjoyed the excitement of spinning for a chance to win one of the five jackpot prizes, even if I never personally hit the Ultra.

I also enjoyed the character of Jolene the Joker. Her comments and personality add a nice element to the game.

Beginners can also enjoy the game, but I suggest they take some time to familiarize themselves with all of the features by trying out Fire and Roses Joker in demo mode first.
