And Pennsylvania has the old relaible 100% deposit match up to $250. You can only claim this BetRivers Casino promo in one state, which I highly recommend you do since there aren't a lot of casino cashback offers out there anymore.

After signing up, all I had to do was make a deposit and use the code “CASINOBACK” to participate in this promotion. BetRivers Casino automatically provides and enters this code themselves during the sign up process, so it’s not actually unlocking any kind of exclusive offer. 

As soon as you’ve made your first deposit, the 24-hour promotional period will be triggered. You must make a minimum deposit of $10 to start the bonus.

I started with a $200 deposit, as I knew that I could add further funds to my account later in the day, depending on the result of my gaming. Also, I wanted to test various payment methods. During the rest of the day, I made three more deposits of $50 into my account, totalling $350 for that day. Keep in mind that only your first deposit counts. So for the purpose of the bonus, only the $200 counted.

Players will receive 100% back on real money losses in the first 24 hours of gameplay from your first deposit. The bonus covers your net losses, which is the amount you lose minus any money you’ve won. If your gameplay results in you breaking even or making a profit, you do not have a net loss and, therefore, will not receive any bonus money.

Let me give you another example of what can happen. So, let's say that from the initial $200 I started with, I managed to win $1,000 and lose $700. I now have $500. Even though I lost $700, my net loss is actually positive. Because only my initial wager is considered when calculating net loss, and I still have $500, which is $300 more than my initial $200 deposit. In this case, I have no net loss but rather a net profit of $300.

The simple formula for calculating net loss is: Net Loss = Total Deposits − Total Withdrawals − Remaining Balance. As long as the total amount is negative or zero, you won't get any cashback bonus.

Now, I love this offer because all casino gameplay is eligible for the cashback. I was able to test out a variety of different games, even those I’d normally avoid, because of their higher risks.

Desktop

The BetRivers Casino's distinctive blue and yellow colour scheme really pops, and I appreciate how it's essentially claimed this palette as its own, creating a recognizable brand.

I didn’t like the unused white space on either side of the main content. It would look more polished if it extended the layout to fill the whole page. Other than that, the design is clean and straightforward. It has a slightly playful vibe with charming, colourful icons. 

The interface is satisfyingly organized, with three separate bars at the top of the screen. The first allows you to navigate between the main features of the website: “Promotions,” “Rewards,” “Get Started,” “Responsible Gaming,” “Help Center,” and “Support Chat.”

Unlike most casinos, when you click "Promotions,” you aren’t taken to a new screen. Instead, a pop-up menu that resembles a betslip appears, displaying all the latest promos and a link to the Bonus Store. It’s a quirky touch that I enjoyed and helps BetRivers’ software stand out from the crowd. 

The second bar allows you to switch between the “Casino” and “Sportsbook.” Both of these bars are present no matter where you go on the website, making them easy to access.

I always felt it was obtrusive and unnecessary, and I was thrilled when BetRivers scrapped it for this much more subtle version. As you scroll down “Home,” you’ll find further categories so that you can discover what’s new, trending, featured, and seasonal. My only issue is that there are no subcategories within big categories like “Slots.” Considering there are over 2,590 titles, it could benefit from further filters by themes, features, or software providers.

Mobile App

The BetRivers Casino mobile app can be downloaded on iOS and Android devices. My experience using the app was just as smooth and user-friendly as the website, ensuring a consistent gaming experience, whether on a desktop or phone.

The platform’s layout has been changed slightly on the app to fit the smaller screen. Links to the main features are arranged along the bottom, while there’s a hideaway menu on the left. The game's lobby remains the same.

Other than layout, the app functions just like the website. I could effortlessly access my account, play games, deposit, and withdraw, but with the added convenience of using my phone. This meant that I could use BetRivers on the go, wherever I was.

It is important to note that the gaming library varies depending on your state. I’ve focused on the New Jersey platform, which has the biggest collection.

Slots make up most of the gaming library at BetRivers Casino, with over 2,590 titles. In the slot collection, there are various themes, styles, and features to enjoy.

Players can find iconic slots from big names like NetEnt, IGT, Relax Gaming, and Big Time Gaming. You can also explore titles from less mainstream names such as Konami, Aristocrat, and ReelPlay. I particularly enjoyed the “10k Ways” titles from ReelPlay, offering stunning graphics, fun themes, and 10,000 ways to win.

I found it frustrating that there are hardly any categories for software providers. You can search for them, but not all their titles will come up, and sometimes, they're incorrect. It’s a rare but significant flaw in BetRivers’ software design.

There are many other categories, which you can scroll through in the games lobby. However, I think it’d be easier to explore if there were filters for each type of game, such as software providers, themes, or features.

Because of the welcome promotion, I felt entirely unrestricted while gaming on my first day. I didn’t have to worry about losses, so I could play whatever titles I liked the look of without stressing about their RTPs or volatility.

For instance, I generally avoid branded slots as their RTPs aren’t typically the highest, but the welcome promotion gave me the freedom to indulge in this case.

Play+ is a prepaid card with the same pros and cons as e-wallets. However, you’ll need to sign up for a specific BetRivers Play+ account to use it.

I tested out the credit and debit card methods for my next deposits. Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express are accepted.

All of these functioned the same. You just need to enter your card information. Using credit cards has the added benefit of external perks like points or cashback on your deposits.

Bank transfers can be processed through VIP Preferred or Trustly. The former is an ACH e-check system that requires registration before use, while the latter allows for direct bank transfers without needing registration.

You can use PayNearMe, which is partnered with various local stores, to deposit cash. I find depositing cash to be the least convenient payment method, but it may be preferable for certain players.

VanilaDirect is convenient when I have bills to pay but takes too long. And going to the casino is not really an option for the same reason as PayNearMe. If I wanted to go to a casino, I wouldn't be playing online.

Overall, I found that funding my account using Apple Pay and debit/credit cards or bank transfers was the easiest and quickest way.

Next, I tested out withdrawals with bank transfers. I requested a $25 payout with Trustly and straight after another $25 with VIP Preferred. My VIP Preferred withdrawal arrived in my bank account first, taking less than a day. My withdrawal with Trustly, on the other hand, took a day and a half.

For my final withdrawal with my remaining winnings, I chose PayPal again, which was processed in an hour. I chalked up the slightly longer time for the first PayPal withdrawal to the usual delays that come with initial payouts.

BetRivers Casino offers customer support through its live chat, which is available around the clock. It was a disappointment that it doesn’t offer assistance through phone or email, and the waiting time for the live chat was an issue.

Firstly, I always look at the “Help Center” to see how useful it is before getting in touch with support. BetRivers' "Help Center" has basic information but lacks proper details. If your questions are in any way detailed or specific, chances are you’re going to need to speak to the team directly. 

Next, I moved on to reaching out to their customer support team. Here are their available methods:

You can use the live chat by clicking the “Support chat” link at the top of the website. If you’re on the app, it is located at the bottom under “Support.”

A small chat box will pop up and prompt you to fill out details, including your full name and email. You’ll first be connected to an AI chatbot, which will redirect you to articles in the “Help Center.”

After selecting “No,” when asked if your question has been answered, you can then pick “Transfer To Agent.”

When I first used the live chat, I found myself at number 23 in the queue. Waiting around as the numbers slowly ticked down was a tedious experience.

It took around 30 minutes to finally message with an agent. This was very frustrating, mainly because I’m used to being connected almost immediately with live chat agents at other online casinos.

I asked the agent about withdrawals. I have to praise his friendliness and attention to detail. He replied to all of my many questions without any slip in quality or professionalism. While reviewing other online casinos, I’ve often found that many agents can be rushed and impatient since I tend to have a lot of questions, which wasn’t the case here.

Another issue I found is that there is no helpline or phone number for customer support. Personally, I sometimes prefer speaking in real time to a representative, especially if it is a complex issue. It also feels more personal. So, I was disappointed that this isn’t offered, as certain players may prefer talking directly to someone.

Customer support at BetRivers Casino fell short of my expectations, which were high given its reputation and presence. The limited support options and lengthy wait times for the live chat were disappointing.
