We are past the halfway point in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games - and there are still plenty of events remaining for bettors to put money on.

Through the end of competition on August 7, the United States leads the way with 94 total medals (27 gold, 35 silver, and 32 bronze). But the U.S. is not done yet! With over 100 events to go, there are a number of events with athletes from the U.S. favored to win or one of the top contenders for the event.

With so many events remaining, it can be a daunting task trying to figure out where you want to put your money. But don’t worry - we are here for those looking for a bit of guidance.

Read on for the latest Olympic betting odds and analysis for many of the upcoming competitions. See also, how to bet online on the Olympics.

Olympics 2024 Odds, Predictions, Best Bets

Most Gold Medals Odds

Winning Olympic gold is the ultimate goal for every athlete in the Summer Games. The United States has been the standard in recent years, taking home the most gold medals in six of the last seven Summer Games (the outlier was the 2008 Games in Beijing; China won 48 to 36 for the U.S).

As of the end of competition on August 7, 187 gold medals had been awarded. The following table contains the odds (via BetMGM) for the most gold medals (opening odds in parenthesis) and their current gold medal count.

The United States has dominated the Summer Olympics dating back to 1896. Since then, the Summer Games have occurred 29 times; of those 29, the U.S. took home the most gold medals 18 times. U.S. athletes have taken home the most in the last three Summer Games.

With over 100 gold medals still to come, there is more than enough events for China or someone else to take the lead.

China has been among the top three gold medal winners in every Summer Games dating back to the 2000 Games in Sydney. They’ve come in first once (2008), second three times (2020, 2012, and 2004), and third twice (2000 and 2016).

If Neilsen’s virtual medal table is correct, China will win 34 gold medals. Their TOTAL was set at O/U 33.5 (-137/+100). They have led the count for most of the Olympics, but with so many events remaining it would not be wise to count them out just yet.

It is a long shot, of course. Australia has the most for a country not named China or the United States (18). But while it is unlikely we see Australia or anyone else overtake China and/or the United States, it is mathematically possible.

Country to Win Most Medals Odds

The Unites States needed 25 medals to become the first country to acquire 3,000 total medals. With 41 through the end of competition on August 7, they have passed that milestone and is well on the way to 3,100.

As of the end of competition on August 7, the U.S, has been awarded 94 medals.

With over 100 events still to be decided, the U.S. could certainly add a lot to that total before the Games end. They will probably not break the all-time record for most medals in a single Games (239, set by the U.S. in 1904 in St. Louis). But they could surpass the total from the Tokyo Games (113).

Here are the odds for most medals in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games from Caesars long with the current medal count as of the end of competition on August 1. Sign up for a new account with Caesars Sportsbook, use our promo code WSN1000, and claim a $1,000 First Bet today.

United States (-3300) at Caesars

The U.S. has dominated overall medal counts since 1896, much like gold medal counts. Team USA brought home 113 medals in 2020, easily beating second-place China (89). Neilsen’s Gracenote projections have the U.S. coming home with 112 medals.

China is projected to finish a distant second with 86 once again. But with over 100 events to go, the race is far from done.

Men’s Basketball

  • Medal Games Scheduled for August 10

Basketball fans in France may not love Joel Embiid, but that has not stopped him from playing well or the U.S. from dominating the competition. We are down to the semifinals, with France taking on Germany at 11:30 a.m. ET Wednesday, followed by the United States vs. Serbia at 3 p.m. ET.

Germany is a 5.5-point favorite in the game (odds via BetMGM) while the U.S.s is favored by 16.5 over Serbia.

Here are the odds of winning gold for the four remaining teams:

Any doubts that existed concerning Team USA should be nonexistent at this point. The team has looked solid throughout the tournament and has not been in danger of losing a game. But if you don’t want to bet on the U.S. or just have a thing for betting on longshots, consider France. However, keep your wager small or use a bonus bet because the U.S. will more than likely win.

Betting Without Favorite

With Team USA such a heavy favorite, it is not as much fun betting on who will win the gold. But what if you were to take the USMNT out of the equation? That is what this market does. What you are essentially doing is betting on who you think will win silver.

Here are the odds for the other three teams:

Germany has a solid team, but so does France. But if you are looking to bet on this market now, take France. Yes, Germany is favored in the semifinal game over them, but we do not think they’ll win., Our money is on France to meet the U.S. in the gold medal game once again.

Tournament Top Rebounder

This table contains seven players listed with the shortest odds and their total rebounds through two games (odds as of Aug. 2):

At this stage, with -250 odds, Nikola Jokic is not an advisable bet anymore. Risking $250 to win $100 when Wembanyama is hot on his tail is not something we can recommend bettors do. However, at +220, there is plenty of value in Wembanyama’s odds.

However, if you take away Jokic's off night against the United States during group play (five rebounds), he’s averaging 14 per game. Wembanyama has been consistent, but he’ll need to up his game to overtake Jokic.

You would think choosing who to bet on here would be easy; they all have the potential to go off on any given night, so just take whoever plays the most.

But no one plays a significant amount more than anyone else. Devin Booker and LeBron James recorded around 26 minutes against Serbia. Otherwise, everyone has been getting around 20 minutes and possibly not playing at all.

Since guys are not being selfish, the U.S. has several players a night scoring in double digits and in the teens. Edwards jumped to the top of oddsboards after a 26-point effort against Puerto Rico.

One big game could lock it down for Edwards or move Durant or LeBron in front…or possibly someone new.

Women’s Basketball

  • Medal Games Scheduled for August 11

Much like the men’s team, the USWNT has dominated Olympic competition, winning gold in nine of the last ten Summer Games. But as basketball has become more of a global sport in recent years, the level of competition has risen. Team USA is a heavy favorite, but several teams have promise.

Here are the odds for the five teams listed at the top of oddsboards:

  • Belgium/France (+1600) at BetMGM

Don’t get us wrong here. Team USA will almost certainly win the gold medal, but at -2000, bettors would have to risk $2000 just to win $100. While it may seem like a given that the USWNT will win gold again, that is not a wager we can suggest taking.

However, we do see some value in the odds for France. The U.S. is 3-0 all-time vs. France, but the last game, during the 2020 Games, was a close on (93-82). While the U.S. seems to be content with outscoring teams, that strategy may not work against an efficient French team.

While Belgium snuck into the quarterfinals, they may be peaking at just the right time.

Women’s Soccer

  • Gold Medal Game Scheduled for August 11 at 11 a.m. ET

  • USA vs. Brazil

Soccer was not added to the Summer Games for women until 1996. But since then, the USWNT has dominated, winning gold four times. However, their last gold medal win came in 2012; they did not medal in 2016 and won bronze in 2020.

The USWNT was supposed to do well coming into the tournament and appears poised to win the gold medal with a win over Brazil:

Men’s and Women’s Athletics (track and field)

Track and field events can be traced as far back as 776 BC, but they have been an integral part of the modern-day Games since 1896. Over the years, the number of events has grown to 23 for men and women (and two mixed events).

With so many events to review, we’ve focused on those in which athletes from the United States are favored or one of the top contenders:

Men’s 200m: Noah Lyles (-1000) at Caesars

  • Finals scheduled for August 8

Of the top four athletes on Caesars odds board, three are Americans, led by the overwhelming favorite in Lyles. He has a personal best of 19.31 seconds that he ran in 2022. Lyles won gold in the 200m at the 2023 World Athletic Championships with a time of 19.52 seconds.

The following are additional track and field events in which an athlete from the United States is a legitimate contender:

  • Men’s 110m Hurdles: Grant Holloway -3000 * Finals scheduled for August 8

  • Men’s 400m Hurdles: Rai Benjamin -135 * Finals scheduled for August 9

  • Women's 400m Hurdles: Sydney McLaughlin -400 * Finals scheduled for August 8

  • Women's Shot Put: Chase Jackson -120 * Finals scheduled for August 9

  • Women’s Long Jump: Malaika Mihambo -135; Tara Davis (USA) +175* Finals scheduled for August 8

  • Women’s Heptathlon: Nafissatou Thiam (BEL) -165; Anna Hall (USA) +275 * Finals scheduled for August 9

Women’s Water Polo

Women’s water polo has been played internationally since 1978, was an exhibition event at the 1984 Summer Games in Los Angeles, and finally became a part of the Olympics at the 2000 Sydney Games.

Since its addition, the USWNT has been the team to beat, winning gold three times, silver twice, and bronze once. Here are the odds for the five teams listed at the top of oddsboards:

They’ve won gold at the last three, losing once and playing to a draw just once in that stretch. The team has won gold at the World Championships in five of the last six events, in the World Cup at the last four, seven of the last eight at World League, and at the last five Pan-American Games.

The record speaks for itself. They are the team to beat until someone does it.

Women’s Golf

  • The second round is scheduled for August 8

  • The third round is scheduled for August 9

  • The final round is scheduled for August 10

Golf’s Olympic history goes back to the 1900 Games, but it only became a part of the modern era of the Summer Olympics in 2016. Unlike other sports that hold qualifying tournaments, the participants are decided by the official world golf rankings, with the top 15 men and women qualifying.

Countries are limited to four players. The field is then filled out by the two highest-ranked players from participating countries who have yet to qualify.

Scottie Scheffler (USA) won the gold for the men, with Tommy Fleetwood (GBR) taking home the silver and Hideki Matsuyama (JPN) the bronze. The women’s bracket did not start play until August 7.

Here are the odds for the five players listed at the top of oddsboards:

Celine Boutier (FRA)+190
Nelly Korda (USA)+550
Lillia Vu (USA)+600
Atthaya Thitikul (THA)+1200
Miyuu Yamashita (JPN)+1200

Nelly Korda +550

Unlike the men, the vast majority of the women have not competed on this course before. So, no one will have an experience advantage over the rest of the field.

Boutier leads by three after the first round, shooting 7-under, followed by South Africa’s Ashleigh Buhai at 4-under, Lilia Vu, Morgane Metraux (SUI), and Mariajo Uribe (COL),  at 2-under. Six golfers finished the first round at 1-under.

While Boutier got off to a hot start, there is reason to think she may not maintain the same level of play going forward. She failed to finish in the top ten in her las ten tournaments prior to the Olympics. However, she is one of the top ten players in the world…so maybe she does maintain…

Korda finished the first round at even par. While she has ground to make up, she is the No.1 ranked golfer in the world for a reason. Until she flops, we ae going to believe she can climb up to the top of the leaderboard by Saturday.
