With only one game being played on Monday, all of our attention is directed towards the Atlantic divisional matchup between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs in what should be a thrilling contest between two Stanley Cup contenders. The Lightning offense have continued to terrorize opposing back lines this season, entering the contest ranked top-5 in Expected Goals For, and now have the opportunity to maintain their scoring pace against a reeling Maple Leafs defense.
With Toronto’s defense regressing, value is shaded towards the Lightning’s offense as they should have no issue with generating high quality Shots on Goal. When looking to make a wager on the NHL, FanDuel sportsbook has been the top choice for the league as they offer a wide range of markets for their users to choose from and at very favorable odds when compared to the rest of the mobile apps.
If you have not signed up yet with FanDuel sportsbook and are looking to wager on Monday’s slate of NHL props, you can claim $300 in bonus bets by creating an account and winning your first bet of at least $5. Be sure to wager the $5 on a heavy favorite or alt line immediately after signing up, maximizing your chances of winning and collecting the $300 in bonus bets.
When Steven Stamkos left the Tampa Bay Lightning for the Nashville Predators in the offseason, question marks loomed over Tampa’s offense in regard to how they would recoup the loss of his production. Since the start of the season, it’s apparent the Lightning would have no issue with maintaining their high marks on offense as they currently rank fifth overall in Expected Goals For in All Situations and 10th in 5-on-5 Play.
The addition of Jake Guentzel to help replace Stamkos has paid immediate dividends as he is currently in second place on the team for total points after netting in one goal and generating four assists. Scarier yet, Guentzel has yet to get aggressive in his efforts of firing high quality Shots on Goal, only averaging 4.9 Shots on Goal per 60 minutes and an Expected Goal of 0.2.
With the Toronto Maple Leafs defense regressing down to below league average in Expected Goals Against in All Situations, Guentzel will have the opportunity to play a bigger role in the scoring department which applies more pressure to the Maple Leafs reeling back line. Even if he remains passive and continues to settle into a facilitating role, the rest of the Tampa Bay offense should have no issue with maintaining their rapid scoring pace and clearing the over on their team total in the process.

While targeting Jake Guentzel’s props are tempting, last year’s total point leader Nikita Kucherov has been the more consistent source of Tampa’s scoring production as he currently leads the team in total Goals, Shots on Goal, and Expected Goals per Game. Kucherov also has momentum on his side after he finished their last contest against the Ottawa Senators generating an Expected Goal of 0.92 with his lone goal only generating an Expected Goal of 0.05.
That indicates Kucherov remained aggressive in his efforts of generating high quality Shots on Goal, consistently putting himself in a position to find the back of the net. Be sure to line shop with as many sportsbooks as you have available to you when making a wager on a goalscorer prop as Kucherov’s odds to score a goal can be found as high as +130 at FanDuel and as low as +100 at Caesars. That is a difference of $30 in potential profit for a $100 wager should you take his highest listed odds.
