Kicking off the Friday slate of NHL games is the matchup between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Vegas Golden Knights. There is projected to be a high amount of attention on the offensive side of the ice tonight, which leaves opportunities for solid defenders to make their mark in this game.
The Golden Knights have shown why they are one of the most efficient defenses in the league, as they are tied for second place in goals allowed per game (1.86). One of the key reasons why is the solid role-playing of defender Brayden McNabb, who is one of the best shot blockers in the league.
In seven games played this season, McNab has accounted for 21 block shots, which is the 10th most in the league. He is also tied for first in the league in +/- with eight minutes due to his reliability on the defensive side of the ice.
He is averaging three block shots per game so it should be simple for betters to make their choice regarding McNabb.
The New Jersey Devils have been on fire to start the 2023–2024 NHL season, as players like Jack Hughes have been essential to the team's highly productive scoring. Other players have contributed to the Devils’ high-caliber playmaking, including defender Dougie Hamilton.
In six games this season, Hamilton has accounted for six points, with three of them being goals and three being assists. He has accounted for a point in five of the six games played this season, with the only exception being the 6-4 loss to the Washington Capitals this past Wednesday. He didn’t attempt a single shot in the game.
Hamilton has taken more aggressive shots to start the season as he has proven to be one of the better role players for a team that is third in the league in goals per game (4.00).
The Minnesota Wild are looking to get out of the middle of the pack in the Western Conference, as they will attempt to do so this Friday night on the road against a Washington Capitals team, who is playing their third game in four nights.
Leading the charge for the wild is center Joel Eriksson Ek. In seven games played this season, Eriksson is one of three players for Minnesota who has accounted for nine points this season. He is also the team's leading scorer with five goals scored.
Eriksson has accounted for a point in five of the seven games played for the Wild with four of those games being performances where he accounted for two points. Eriksson and the wild are looking to avenge themselves from a tough 6-2 loss on the road to the Philadelphia Flyers.
Eriksson‘s high caliber performance and reliability along with his other teammates in Kirill Kapriov and Mats Zuccarello look to get the rebound win.
