The Calgary Flames possess a great offense as they have scored nine goals in four games played. Five players for the Flames have accounted for four or more points this season and three of them have scored two or more goals. One of the players who scored two goals is left-wing Andrew Mangiapane.
Of the five players who have accounted for four points in four games played for the Flames, Mangiapane has the second shortest amount of time on the ice per game at 16:11.
He is due for a bounce-back performance on the Friday night versus the Columbus Blue Jackets. He accounted for three points in the Flames 5-3 win over the Winnipeg Jets to open the season followed by a one-point performance in the 5-2 road loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. He has not accounted for a point in either of the games on the road versus the Washington Capitals and the Buffalo Sabres. He should find more success and productivity on Friday night and a much more favorable matchup against the Blue Jackets.
The New Jersey Devils will be in for a defensive battle more than they previously thought on Friday night against the New York Islanders. They are going to need their best offensive players to play their best to get to the stellar defense of the New York Islanders. Among the players who are projected to be at their best is center Jack Hughes, who has accounted for a team-high six points for the Devils. He has accounted for two goals and four of them being assists.
Hughes leads the team in total shots attempted at 16, with the next being 11 shots from right wing Tyler Toffoli. Hughes, along with left-wing Jasper Bratt, has such a command for the devil's offense. Most of their key plays are going to run through those two players.
The Islanders have allowed only two goals in two games played this year. Ilya Sorokin is setting up to be one of the more reliable goalkeepers in the NHL.
