This Wednesday night is set for another huge couple of games in this postseason race, with both of them being in the Western Conference. One of the series has a chance to close out, with the winner moving on to the second round of the playoffs. One game between the Edmonton Oilers and the Los Angeles Kings is going to be defined by a couple of star playmakers. The other game in the Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars will be tough to bet on due to the multiple role players being a factor in this game.
Below I'm sharing my favorite NHL player prop picks for Wednesday, May 1.
All the odds I'm using are from DraftKings Sportsbook. Place your NHL bets at DraftKings, head to the sportsbook to find the best odds and promos.
The series between the Dallas Stars and the Vegas Golden Knights has been completely unexpected. The Golden Knights won the first two games of the series, both in Dallas. The Golden Knights, who had the momentum going into their home stadium for games three and four, lost both.
Game five is now heading back into Dallas where they have the momentum and the Stars are showing that they are the most composed hockey team. One big reason is the efficiency of their overall roster, including defender Miro Heiskanen.
In four games played this postseason against Vegas, Heiskanen has accounted for four total points with three being assists. He accounted for an assist in the first three games of the series. As Vegas shifted focus defensively on him, more players opened up their availability to score or two great passing opportunities.
The Golden Knights are more likely to change up their defensive schemes again as they are going to be desperate to try and steal one more win in Dallas before the series goes back to Vegas. Heiskanen is one of the most reliable players for the Stars this season and the postseason. Look for him to be a key piece to the game plan tonight.
Bet on Heiskanen for Over 0.5 Assists at DraftKings
It almost feels like Deja vu with the best pick in the player props going to be Edmonton Oilers center Conor McDavid to account for more than two assists. The fact of the matter is that McDavid, while has been contained at scoring goals by the highly efficient defense of the Kings, has been a key playmaker and setting up shots for his teammates.
And me four games played against the Kings, McDavid has accounted for 10 total points with nine being assists. He has only had two games where he accounted for more than to assist in the postseason. Those games, however, or the only plays that helped the Oilers win.
In Sunday's 1-0 win on the road, McDavid, along with Leon Draisaitl, for one assist that helped defender Evan Bouchard scored the only goal in the game.
The Oilers are looking to avenge themselves after a tough office performance. Look for McDavid to lead Edmonton to a much more efficient performance offensively.
