• My Pick – Jake Guentzel to Account for Over 0.5 Points (-190) at DraftKings Sportsbook

There is a lot of hype for the Carolina Hurricanes after the moves they made at the NHL Trade Deadline. Among the biggest was trading for Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jake Guentzel, a big win-win situation. His first game as the Hurricanes was hampered as Carolina lost at home to the New York Rangers with a 1-0 score this past Tuesday.

Jake, along with several other hurricanes, were held scoreless. He should find his way back on the scoreboard, especially after his first game with Carolina and coming off an injury. The tough part is that he will have to do this against the elite defense of the Florida Panthers, who allow an average of 2.35 goals per game (first in the league).

In seven of the last five games for the Penguins, Guentzel accounted for at least one point. Two of those games involve matchups against the Panthers. He has the talent and the experience to account for a big game for Carolina and potentially get a win. Look for him to accomplish that tonight.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Philadelphia Flyers

• My Pick – Auston Matthews to Account for Over 1.5 Points (+165) at DraftKings Sportsbook

The other big matchup in the NHL tonight will be set as the Toronto Maple Leafs go on the road to take on the Philadelphia Flyers. This will be the second biggest game that will have a huge impact on the Eastern Conference. Usually, in a game like this, the most reliable players will be the star players.

The last time the Maple Leafs and Flyers played, center Auston Matthews account for three goals, including one being in power play. Matthews has been playing at the top of his level this season and has been making his Eastern Conference rivals pay no matter how efficient the defense is.

Philadelphia was among the top defenses in the league not too long ago, but has dropped slightly since the NHL All-Star break. The Flyers are now 11th in the league in goals allowed per game (2.92). Toronto is ranked 5th in the league goals for games (3.53), a result of star play from Matthews.
