One of the top matchups in the Eastern Conference this Tuesday night is the matchup between the Detroit Red Wings going on the road to take on the Buffalo Sabres. The Red Wings have been on fire this season and are expected to get better due to the veteran addition of Patrick Kane.
The Red Wings are ranked third in the league in goals per game, averaging 3.74 goals. They will take on a Buffalo Sabres team that is ranked 23rd in the league in goals allowed per game, allowing 3.4 goals.
One of the biggest reasons for the Red Wings' efficiency on offense is the stellar play of forward Alex DeBrincat. He has accumulated 23 points with 10 being goals and 13 of them being assists. He should have no problem contributing to the board for the Red Wings in some way this game.
The Colorado Avalanche could be without their star defender and one of their star offensive role players in Cale Makar on Tuesday as they take on the Anaheim Ducks. The Avalanche shouldn't be too worried if they rely on more role players and potentially have there are two other stars in forward Mikko Rantanen and center Nathan MacKinnon pick up the pace.
Colorado is ranked 5th in the league in goals per game, averaging 3.58 goals while Anaheim is 26 in the league in goals allowed per game, allowing an average of 3.5 goals. This isn’t a game where Maker is needed to score consistently.
Rantanen is second on the team in points accounted for (31) while also scoring a team-high 12 goals this season. Look for him to pick up the intensity for the Avalanche as they continue into December.
The final game of the night is set for a huge Eastern Conference versus Western Conference matchup as the New Jersey Devils go on the road to take on the Vancouver Canucks. While this game is going to be one of the biggest matchups of the night, there's going to be a huge disadvantage on the ice as the offense of the Canucks takes on the weak defense of the Devils.
Vancouver's offense is ranked second in the NHL in goals per game averaging 3.84 goals while the defense of the Devils are allowing an average of 3.7 three goals, second worst in the league. There is a clear devotion of effort from the offense or the Canucks versus the defense of the devils.
One player that is set to make a huge impact in this game much as he has the past several games for the Canucks is defender Filip Hronek. In 25 games this season, he has accounted for 25 points and 23 assists.
