Our first prop bet of the day will take us to Newark, New Jersey. This matchup will be between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the New Jersey Devils. These teams are having significantly different seasons, and the Devils will crush the Blue Jackets. This matchup will be quite one-sided, and to be entirely honest, there are better and more competitive games on slate today. However, there are some good props associated with this game. This prop will involve the Blue Jacket’s Adam Boqvist. Boqvist is only 22 years old, but Columbus hopes he will be a mainstay for many years to come. He is a decent defenseman and produces a little bit on the offensive end. Boqvist will finish with two shots or more today. Bet on the over.
Boqvist is only averaging 1.63 shots per game this season. That is not very many, but something has changed over his last few weeks. The defenseman has increased his shooting and has taken two or more shots over his previous nine games. Some of these games have been against weaker teams like the Montreal Canadiens and the Anaheim Ducks, but some of the games have also been against strong defensive teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers. I only say this to show that Boqvist is shooting a lot against every team and will have at least two shots today. Bet on the over.
Our second prop bet of the day will take us to Montreal, Quebec. This game, like the first one, will probably not be too intense, as the Canadiens are rebuilding, and the Capitals are out of the Playoff race. This prop will involve Capitals’ superstar Alex Ovechkin. Ovechkin is finishing up another incredible season but still has time to get a few more goals. One of those goals will come in this game. Bet on Ovechkin to be an anytime scorer.
Ovechkin has not scored in his previous three games. However, he has not gone three games or more without a goal since February, so there is good reason to believe he will end his goal-scoring streak tonight. The veteran will be taking on the Montreal Canadiens for the third time this season. Ovechkin ended his last matchup against Montreal with a hat trick. Not only are the Canadiens a weak offensive team, but Ovechkin knows how to score against them. The numbers point towards an Alex Ovechkin goal, so I recommend betting on him being an anytime scorer.
Our final prop bet of the day will come from the Ottawa Senators-Florida Panthers matchup. This game will be closer than the first two but will definitely lean toward the Panthers. We will look at the Panthers' Aaron Ekblad for this prop. Ekblad is a defenseman but can also produce a little bit on the offensive end. He will finish with a point today. Bet on the over.
Ekblad is coming off a one-goal game against the Buffalo Sabres. However, that is more relevant information. The 27-year-old is on a five-game point streak. He will be facing an average Senators team today. Ekblad has only faced them once this season but ended with an assist in that matchup. It is also worth noting that the Senators' defense has been questionable lately, so Ekblad may have a few opportunities to get a goal or an assist. Bet on the over.
