Both the Vancouver Canucks and the Winnipeg Jets are set to make a run for the Stanley Cup title next week when the playoffs start. Before that, they will have one more game to face against each other.
Winnipeg's four-game winning streak against Vancouver came to a close when the Jets fell to the Canucks with a 5-0 score on March 9. The Jets are going to be looking to get revenge on their non-divisional rival.
They can start by getting one last win and one last boost to make it eight consecutive games won. It is going to be a hard defensive battle with both teams having top-five defenses, but one way to get the offenses rolling is for the passing game to be established significantly.
The Jets will be turned into defender Josh Morrissey for their offense to be rolling. In seven games played this April, Morisseyi has accounted for 10 total points with eight being assists. He should be able to get the Jets' offense going one last time before the postseason as he has done before against a really good Canucks defense in previous seasons, although he is still looking for his first point this season.
Bet on Josh Morrisey at DraftKings
The other big game of the night will be set as the Edmonton Oilers go on the road to face the Colorado Avalanche. The Oilers are feeling good after their huge win streak to get set to end the regular season but failed to secure that when they lost a disastrous road game against the Arizona Coyotes with a 5-2 score the night before.
This game is not going to leave a good taste in the mouth of the Oilers and Star center Connor McDavid. They will look to regain that momentum and prepare for the first round of playoffs either against the Nashville Predators or the Los Angeles Kings.
McDavid has been on fire through most of the season, but especially these last few weeks. McDavid accounted for 19 points in the final seven games of March. He continued that trend as he accounted for two goals or assists in the three games before the Coyotes.
This game also gives McDavid a chance to regain his rhythm just in time for the postseason, it is a good game for him to have an explosive performance based on the defense of the Avalanche. The Avalanche allow an average of 3.1 goals per game, which is 17th in the league. Look for McDavid to lead the Oilers in a rebound game just before the start of the postseason.
