The Carolina Hurricanes (5-4) are overcoming a tough start of 3-4 for the season with six of their first seven games on the road. The Hurricanes have won their two games with the latest being a 3-0 home win over the San Jose Sharks this past Friday.
The Philadelphia Flyers (4-5) started the season with an overall record of 3-1 before three of their next four games. The Flyers are coming off a rough 7-4 home loss to the Anaheim Ducks.
Carolina is coming into this game with high-powered scoring, as they are ranked sixth in goals per game (3.67). They have no shortage of reliable scorers and passers to get points on the ice. Left-wing Teuvo Teravainen leads the team in goals scored this season with seven. Center Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Martin Necas and Seth Jarvis have all scored nine points each, accounting for four goals and five assists.
The Flyers started the season playing a combination of reliable, efficient offense and a tenacious defense. As they played more difficult opponents, they started to rely more on one side of the ice than the other. The Flyers were great in their 6-2 home win over the Minnesota Wild, but fell apart on both sides of the ice against Anaheim two days later.
Right-wing Travis Konency leads the Hurricanes with 11 points and eight goals. Defender Travis Sanheim has accounted for a team-high seven assists.
Frederik Anderson (87.5% saves) is projected to start for the Hurricanes while Carter Hart (92.4% saves) is projected to start for the Flyers. Hart has saved 157 goals while allowing only 13 goals in six games, which is a lot of shot opportunities for the opposing team.

The Seattle Kraken (2-5-2) are off to an incredibly slow start to the 2023-2024 NHL season after their best season in their young franchise last year. The Kraken didn't get their first win until game five, with a 7-4 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. They are currently on a two-game losing streak.
The Tampa Bay Lightning (4-2-2) also started the season at a rough point after winning their season opener. Tampa Bay won only one of their next five games before getting on a two-game winning streak.
The Kraken have too much talent to start the season as one of the worst offensive units in the league. Through nine games this season, it is defender Vince Dunn and right-wing Oliver Bjorkstrand who lead the team in points accounting for seven. Center Jasen Schwartz and left-wing Jared McCann have each accounted for a team-high four goals this season.
The Lighting are averaging 3.63 goals per game, which is the eighth most in the league. Right-wing Nikita Kucherov is off to a great start in his eight games by accounting for 11 points with a team-high six goals and five assists. Left-wings Brandon Hagel and Nicholas Paul have each accounted for five goals.
The Lightning are not huge favorites since the Kraken are expected to find their rhythm soon. This should be a solid betting opportunity for the Lightning.

One of the best matchups in Monday's NHL slate, if not the best, is the matchup between the New York Rangers (6-2) at the Winnipeg Jets (4-3-1). The Jets are one of the more underrated scoring teams in the league while the Rangers remain one of the most elite defensive teams in the league.
The Jets have three players who have accounted for seven points this season. Left-wing Kyle Connor leads the team in goals scored with five. Defender John Morrissey leads the team in assists with six. The Jets average 3.38 goals per game.
The Rangers are ranked second in the league in goals allowed per game (2.00), only behind the Boston Bruins (1.50). One of the biggest reasons for the Rangers being so efficient on the defensive side of the ice is their star players' availability to consistently block shots. Their top six players have accumulated 95 blocked shots. Jacob Trouba has accounted for 29 blocked shots, while Nick Bonino has accounted for 28.
Another for the Rangers' efficiency on defense is their goalies. Igor Shesterkin (90% on saves) has saved 135 goals on only 15 allowed goals in six games this season. Jonathan Quick (98.2% on saves) has been stellar in the three games played for the Rangers.
On the offensive side of the ice, the Rangers have three players who have accounted for at least seven assists. Left-wing Artemi Panarin leads the team with eight assists.
