The final game of the weekday is set for an Eastern Conference versus Western Conference matchup as the Arizona Coyotes (23-25-4) go on the road to take on the Carolina Hurricanes (30-17-5). While this is the only game to watch on Friday night, expect some heavy value in the game line.
The Hurricanes have been okay after coming off the NHL All-Star Break with a solid 5-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche and an overtime win over New Jersey. Their schedule wasn’t easy coming off the All-Star break as they experienced losses to the Vancouver Canucks and the Dallas Stars. This game tonight will be the easiest opponent matched since before the All-Star break.
The Coyotes, on the other hand, have experienced a horrible start to the new year. After defeating the Anaheim Ducks on the road 2-0, the Coyotes have only won four of their 17 games. This team hasn’t had any momentum to establish a winning streak outside of the two-game defeating Nashville and Pittsburgh at home.
Arizona is currently on a seven-game losing streak that includes a 3-1 road loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on January 27. The Coyotes started the game with a goal in the first period, but the Hurricanes scored three unanswered goals, with two coming from the third period.
The Hurricanes are playing very well on both sides of the ice, while the Coyotes are still struggling to establish rhythm going into a month and a half of games. Carolina also has the advantage on both sides of the ice. They are ranked 11th in the NHL in goals per game (3.31) while allowing an average of 2.83 goals per game (12th in the league). The Coyotes have fallen in offensive and defensive efficiencies. They are ranked 23rd in the league in goals per game (2.9), while their defense allows an average of 3.13 goals per game (18th in the league).
