Sunday Night Football Picks Week 16: Will TB Lock Up the NFC South?

  • The Buccaneers won the NFC South three straight seasons

  • The Cowboys are 1-6 at home

  • Dallas is 3-3 since Dak Prescott was injured

The Dallas Cowboys (6-8) will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-6) on Sunday Night Football to close out the NFL Week 16 weekend.

The Buccaneers control their own destiny and are tantalizingly close to another playoff appearance, while the Cowboys still haven’t given up on themselves or their season despite being out of true playoff contention.

The Bucs last faced the Cowboys in a 31-14 loss in the Wild Card of the 2022 season in what became Tom Brady’s final game of his NFL career. If they’ve proven anything this year, it’s that they show up to every game with the right mentality and a burning desire to win.

So without further delay, here are our best Buccaneers vs. Cowboys betting picks for this SNF matchup with odds from FanDuel Sportsbook. Head over to FanDuel to place your SNF bets and grab $150 in bonus bets with a $5 winning wager.

SNF Picks Buccaneers vs Cowboys

Cooper Rush Over 222.5 Passing Yards (-114 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

Rush hasn’t been all that terrible since he entered the lineup. He went under this line in three straight games but showed his explosiveness in the two weeks before, going for 247 and 354 yards.

The Bucs like to take their shots with Baker Mayfield and put pressure on their opponents, which could coax Dallas into throwing the ball frequently. The Tampa defense also surrendered the third-most passing yards per game (247.7) and just has not been impressive in the secondary.

Bucky Irving Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-120 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

Irving, a rookie running back from Oregon, has been outstanding recently. Excluding a four-carry game that he left early due to an injury, Irving recorded four straight games of 73, 88, 152, and 117 rushing yards, and scored at least one touchdown in three of those four.

Irving’s success on the ground allowed the Bucs to add more balance to their offense, a balance that hasn’t existed since before Brady got to town. Todd Bowles has shown that he trusts his rookie carrier and will give him chances around the goal line, and Dallas has one of the worst run defenses in football.

Mike Evans Over 80.5 Receiving Yards (-114 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

As is known throughout the football world, Evans, an 11-year NFL vet, has not caught less than 1,000 yards of passes in a season in his career. That streak is in jeopardy coming down to the final weeks as he needs 83.7 yards per game over the next three weeks to get back to the 1,000-yard threshold.

Whether influenced by the looming streak or not, Evans had his best game of the season last week and caught nine passes for 159 yards and two touchdowns. He also had eight receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown two weeks before that and gets to take on a Dallas defense that is 21st in passing yards allowed per game.

CeeDee Lamb Over 71.5 Receiving Yards (-114 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

Lamb has been outstanding all season despite dealing with an underperforming Prescott and Rush. He is third in the entire league in receptions (94) and yards (1,089) and just caught nine balls for 116 yards and a touchdown in last week’s win against the Carolina Panthers.

Lamb went over this line in back-to-back games and, like Rush, is facing a Bucs secondary that allowed the third-most passing yards per game. If Rush is going to go over his line like we expect him to, then there is a strong chance that the 25-year-old star wideout does the same.
