Week two of the 2023 NFL Season concludes with a big matchup in the NFC South. This game has a high magnitude for the NFC South Division and the NFC Playoffs.

The New Orleans Saints (1-0) will go on the road to take on the Carolina Panthers (0-1). New Orleans flexed their way to a defensive showcase in the week one 16-15 home win over the Tennessee Titans. The Panthers had a rough introduction to the season as they underperformed on the road in a 24-10 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

This game looks to be a better introduction to the new starting quarterbacks, especially for Panthers' rookie quarterback Bryce Young.

Saints vs Panthers Predictions

New Orleans Saints vs Carolina Panthers Betting Preview

Both teams are going into the season with new quarterbacks leading their offense. The Saints are relying on the addition of another veteran quarterback in Derek Carr. He is in his first season with New Orleans after nine seasons with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders. In his first game with the Titans last week, Carr completed 23-of-33 of his passes for 305 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and a QBR of 59.2. He has reliable pass-catchers in Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and Michael Thomas.

The Saints' defense was the biggest reason for the big win over the Titans. They held Titans star running back Derrick Henry to 63 yards on 15 carries. From the defensive line, linebacker, and secondary, the Saints' defense is going to be one of the most efficient defensive units in the league.

Bryce Young had a rough start to his NFL career last week in the loss to the Falcons. The former first-overall pick completed 20-of-38 of his passes for  146 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions, and a QBR of 17. It didn't help the Panthers that the offensive line struggled by allowing four tackles for loss, two sacks, and eight quarterback hits. Young struggled to connect his wide receivers as they struggled against the Falcons' secondary.

The Panthers' defense saw some great moments in last week's loss to the Falcons. Carolina accounted for six tackles for loss, six quarterback hits, and four sacks. Defensive tackle Derrick Brown and defensive end Brian Burns lead a tenacious Panthers' defensive line. Brown and Burns have accumulated 15 total tackles, 13 solo tackles, three sacks, and three tackles for loss.

Saints vs Panthers Picks & Predictions

Prop Bet #1 - Over 0.5 Touchdowns from Carolina quarterback Bryce Young (-220)

Young had a tough first-game outing for the Panthers, but there will not be many games like this. The Saints had the second-ranked pass defense in the league (184.4 passing yards allowed per game) due to the consistent pass rush and solid defensive backs. They are, however, able to be beaten in red-zone coverages, Young had his welcome to the NFL moment, and he isn’t going to have them again.

Prop Bet #2 - Over 7.5 Tackles from New Orleans linebacker Pete Werner (+105)

Last week in the Saints’ win over the Tennessee Titans, linebacker Pete Werner accounted for eight tackles. The Panthers are going to run the ball more to take the pressure off quarterback Bryce Young and avoid costly turnovers. Werner is also playing on the weak side of the defense where he will rush to the ball carrier.

Prop Bet #3 - Under 5.5 Rushing Yards from New Orleans running back Jamaal Williams (-115)

The Panthers are going to have a solid defense this season, especially with the defensive line. Carolina allowed two solid running backs from the Falcons to not run for over 75 yards. Saints running back Jamaal Williams rushed for 45 yards on 18 carries last season.

You can place a bet on them at DraftKings and get a $200 welcome bonus.
