The NFL’s Week 9 Monday Night Football game features a cross-conference matchup between the 5-3 Baltimore Ravens and the 3-5 New Orleans Saints, two run-heavy teams who will most likely battle it out on the ground, with the Ravens' rushing attack led by mobile QB Lamar Jackson and the Saints run game featuring dual thread RB Alvin Kamara.
When playing teams at home that hold a winning record, the New Orleans Saints have failed to cover the spread in eight of their last nine games, and against these Ravens who are on a two-game winning streak and who are 3-1 on the road, it might be tough for the Saints to cover here given that the Ravens are ranked fifth against the run and the Saints are ranked 14th at stopping runs.
Some fun matchups to watch for include New Orleans multi-purpose superman Taysom Hill who can do just about everything on any given down including throw and catch the football as well as break tackles with power who could be covered by Ravens rookie NB Damarion Williams who so far has had 2 passes defended and 20 total tackles in his first NFL season.
The oddsmakers expect this Ravens and Saints matchup to generate 48 total points and for this bet, the fun part is guessing whether that actual number will be over or under their prediction as well as guessing whether the game will end up being a defensive struggle or an offensive display because in the NFL it could go either way.
Both the Ravens and Saints get in the end zone with Baltimore’s offense averaging 26 points per game and New Orleans posting 24.9 points every game, that total of 50.9 well over what this bet predicts, whereas Baltimore’s defense allows 22.9 points per game and New Orleans allows its opponents to score 25 points per game, that total of 47.9 almost what this bet allows.
Weather will not be a factor in New Orleans since the Caesars Superdome is covered, but injuries could play a part in whether these teams can get on the scoreboard often, and in Week 9 the Saints have 7 players listed as questionable including CB Marshon Lattimore (abdomen) and the Ravens have 4 players who are game time coach’s decisions including TE Mark Andrews (shoulder).

This money line bet is a good one since these teams are almost evenly matched, so fans of the Ravens might want to place this wager knowing that a $145 bet would win them back $100 plus their original investment, and since Baltimore has won eight of their last nine road games against NFC opponents, this wager could be a fun one to make.
On the other hand, Saints fans excited that veteran QB Andy Dalton is under center can place a $100 money line bet on this game and if New Orleans earns the outright win, that bet pays out $122 plus the initial wager, a home game where Saints fans will add their noise in all the right places to give DEs Cameron Jordan and Marcus Davenport a better chance to help slow down Ravens’ rambling QB Jackson.
One on-field defensive advantage the Baltimore Ravens just acquired is playmaking LB Roquan Smith from the Chicago Bears who currently leads the league in tackles with 83 as well as 2.5 sacks and 2 interceptions, an addition to Ravens new DC Mike Macdonald’s 24th ranked defense that has suffered since the departure of prior DC Don “Wink” Martindale in the offseason.
