The Rams and 49ers have a spot in the postseason, with the 49ers locking up the No. 1 seed. The Rams sit as the No. 6 right now, but that can change to No. 7 if they lose and the Packers, who are playing the Bears, win.
Still, we’re getting some backups as Carson Wentz will start for the Rams while the 49ers are sitting Christian McCaffrey, and we can expect Sam Darnold to start.
Let’s explore this game through three player props.
With Stafford sitting this one out, one can only assume that considering they’re playing in the Wild Card Round, they’ll sit stars like Kyren Williams, Cooper Kupp, and Puka Nacua.
We’ve also not seen Wentz play since Week 17 of last season, where he attempted 28 passes for 143 yards and three interceptions.
Whether starters are out there or not, the Kyle Shanahan offense is far more reliable with Darnold under center than Wentz, who hasn’t played in roughly a year with backup Rams weapons.
Take the 49ers here without thinking twice.

Getting the +100 line and taking the total touchdowns at five or more is a solid wager. Darnold and the 49ers offense will still function well. Darnold, who relived Brock Purdy in their loss to the Ravens, did manage to have a passing touchdown and 81 passing yards on 14 attempts against one of the best defenses in the league.
The Rams have also been excellent this season, but not on the level of the Ravens, and again, how many starters will play?
Additionally, Mitchell will suit up here, and it wasn’t too long ago he was a serviceable back for the 49ers before injuries plagued him, and they brought in McCaffrey.
The Shanahan offense is so tremendous that it will allow players like Darnold to flourish.
For the Rams side, Wentz’s style of play is the epitome of boom-or-bust. He enjoys throwing downfield. With the Commanders last season, 12.3% of Wentz’s attempts went for 20+ yards downfield. Another 13.4% of them were between 10-19 yards. He’s still conservative at times, but he does play a bit recklessly, which could help this total go over on either side—the Rams score or the 49ers create a turnover and get in a positive field position.
This is another risk, but we like the “+” line value.

Again, far more questions are answered here on the 49ers side. They have a backup running back in Mitchell, who’s been solid in the past and will receive a full workload here.
The Rams have allowed 2.3 passing touchdowns per game over their last three, and Darnold will still have weapons like Jauan Jennings, Ronnie Bell, and Ray-Ray McCloud III to throw to.
This one is simply all about trusting offenses and the weapons available. We have no idea what to expect from Wentz under center.
