Written by: Richard Janvrin

  • Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has requested a trade to leave the team.

  • The Raiders are allowing 5.39 yards per carry to opposing running backs.

  • Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II has allowed just 87 yards and no touchdowns this season.

The Denver Broncos and Las Vegas square off in Week 5 in an AFC West battle, and ample storylines are coming from the Raiders, including the status of wide receiver Davante Adams. He’s officially requested a trade, and it’s highly unlikely he will play in this game.

Check out this game's odds, my pick, predictions, and top player props. Let’s dive in.

Raiders vs. Broncos Predictions and Prop Bets

Raiders vs. Broncos: My Pick

There’s a lot going on with the Raiders lately, including Adams requesting a trade, head coach Antonio Pierce liking Instagram posts about Adams playing his last game with the team, and referring to him as “17,” which is his jersey number.

The Broncos gutted out a 10-9 win on the road against the New York Jets in less-than-stellar weather.

The Raiders allow more than one touchdown and 221 passing yards per game.

There’s too much off the field to take the Raiders here. I’ll take the Broncos at home.

Raiders vs. Broncos Predictions

The Broncos average 106.3 rushing yards per game (20th), and they’ll take on a Raiders defense that allows 114.5 rushing yards (5.39 yards per carry) and nearly one rushing touchdown per game.

The Broncos have a committee of running backs led by Javonte Williams and Jaleel McLaughlin that haven’t been all too great this season, but Williams is coming off his best game of the season.

The Raiders have allowed a passing touchdown in each game this season, including three against Andy Dalton and the Carolina Panthers. They’ve also allowed 32 rushing yards or more twice this season to the quarterback position.

This is worth noting as Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has one touchdown and no interceptions over his last two games and has 25 rushing yards or more in three of them.

As for the Raiders, they’ll take on a Broncos defense that’s allowing less than one touchdown pass and just 169 passing yards per game. They’ll contend with Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew, who has three touchdowns and three interceptions and is averaging 7.1 yards per attempt. He’ll also be without Davante Adams moving forward, who accounted for 209 of Minshew’s 877 yards and one of his three scores. Minshew also threw for 130 yards and no touchdowns in Week 4.

The Raiders don’t have much of a running game, averaging 76.3 rushing yards per game (31st), and even if they did, they’d be taking on a Broncos squad that’s allowing less than four yards per carry to opposing running backs.

Without Adams, this offense will be significantly easier to solve. Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II will likely follow Jakobi Meyers while the Broncos aim to slow down Raiders tight end Brock Bowers.

As mentioned above, a lot is going on off the field for the Raiders, which will be a massive distraction in preparing for this game.

The Raiders are in for a tough season.

Raiders vs. Broncos Best Player Props

The following props are courtesy of Caesars Sportsbook. At Caesars Sportsbook, you’ll get your first wager back up to $1,000 if it loses when you use promo code “WSN1000” during account creation.

Javonte Williams Any Time TD (+120) at Caesars Sportsbook

Williams has had a tough season so far, rushing 40 times for 129 yards (3.2 yards per carry), a fumble, and no touchdowns. In Week 4, Williams had 16 carries for 77 yards and a long run of 16 yards. He averaged 4.8 yards per carry. This was a massive improvement compared to the three weeks prior, and here, he has a fantastic matchup.

The Raiders have allowed 85 carries for 458 yards (5.39 yards per carry) and three touchdowns to opposing running backs this season. They’ve even allowed three separate running backs to rush for 84 or more yards.

This is the game where Williams finally puts up some numbers, including a touchdown.

Gardner Minshew Under 0.5 Passing TDs (+178) at Caesars Sportsbook

Getting Minshew at +178 to not throw a touchdown is worth a wager on the value alone. Minshew has just three passing touchdowns this season and didn’t throw one in Week 4 against the Browns. He completed 14 of 24 passes for 130 yards, no touchdowns, and no picks.

Against the Broncos, he’ll have another tough battle as they’re allowing just 169 passing yards per game and have allowed three passing touchdowns all season.

Minshew will also be without Adams on the road, which will only make it more difficult to score. Myers takes over as the pseudo-No.1 receiver, and he’ll likely be shadowed by Surtain II, who has allowed just 87 receiving yards and no touchdowns this season.

Getting this at +178 without Adams in the lineup is a fantastic value.

Jakobi Myers Under 45.5 Receiving Yards (-119) at Caesars Sportsbook

Without Adams in the lineup, Myers is likely the next man up regarding the top receiver on the team. Along with that, though, comes coverage from the team’s best cornerback. Against the Broncos, that’s Surtain II.

Surtain II has allowed just 87 yards receiving this season.

Here’s the breakdown each week:

  • Week 1: Four receptions on five targets for 39 yards.

  • Week 2: One receptions on two targets for 16 yards.

  • Week 3: One reception on one target for eight yards.

  • Week 4: Two receptions on three targets for 24 yards.

So far this season, Surtain II has matched up with receivers like D.K. Metcalf, George Pickens, Mike Evans, Garrett Wilson, and more.

For the Raiders passing attack to succeed, they may need to utilize Bowers more than Myers.
