Best NFL Conference Championships Picks: Patrick Mahomes, Jayden Daniels Top Our Best Bets

Published January 24, 2025
4 min read
  • Jayden Daniels could become the first rookie quarterback to lead a team to the Super Bowl

  • Jalen Hurts’ knee injury could leave him vulnerable as a runner

  • Look for Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen to continue as they did when they faced off in Week 11

The next Super Bowl participants will be determined this weekend following the conclusions of the NFL conference championships, and we have the best picks for the high-stakes showdowns.

The defending champion Kansas City Chiefs will take on NFL MVP favorite Josh Allen, while the underdog Washington Commanders will face the Super Bowl favorite Philadelphia Eagles.

Picking spreads and outright winners are always fun, but these types of games are decided by the players on the field. Here, we will share our best NFL player picks for both AFC Championship and NFC Championship games.

NFL Conference Championships Games Picks

Jayden Daniels Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (+130) at FanDuel Sportsbook

The Commanders need Daniels to play a great game to have a chance at taking down a superior roster in the Eagles. Luckily for them, he went over this line in both playoff games and in seven straight games excluding a Week 18 game he exited at halftime.

The Eagles only allowed more than two passing touchdowns once all season, but that was when Daniels torched them for five scores in Week 16. Quinyon Mitchell is dealing with a shoulder injury and may be limited, and Daniels is as confident as any player in the league heading into the matchup.

Jalen Hurts Longest Rush Under 10.5 Yards (-114) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Hurts is as tough as they come, but he suffered a nasty knee injury that left him nearly immobile in the NFC Divisional Playoffs against the Los Angeles Rams.

Hurts went over this line in seven straight games, but we suspect that he will be less inclined to run with the state of his injury. The Commanders have also been instructed by their defensive coordinator to hit him as hard as they would a running back, which should leave Hurts inclined to get down and protect himself.

Josh Allen Over 47.5 Rushing Yards (-114) at Sportsbook

Allen did not beat this line since his Dec. 15 matchup with the Detroit Lions—but if there’s one thing that we know about the Buffalo Bills, it’s that they will put the ball in the hands (and legs) of their superstar quarterback when the lights are the brightest.

Allen ran the ball 10 times last week and took 12 carries for 55 yards and a touchdown in a win over the Chiefs earlier in the season. He’s likely to risk his body as much as he can in hopes of beating KC for the first time in his playoff history, and we like him to get over this line.

Patrick Mahomes Under 249.5 Passing Yards (-114) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Mahomes no longer needs to put up gaudy passing numbers to lead the Chiefs to victory, especially in their current state. He only completed one pass to a wide receiver last week en route to just 177 passing yards and a 64 completion percentage, yet KC still found a way to win.

Mahomes only had 196 yards the last time he faced the Bills and would likely prefer to keep this a low-scoring, low-possession, defensive game. He also doesn’t seem to have much trust in his receivers, which is surprising considering the midseason addition of DeAndre Hopkins.
