This evenly matched interconference showdown in the NFL’s Week 14 features the AFC East’s 6-6 New England Patriots facing the NFC West’s 4-8 Arizona Cardinals, two teams struggling to stay relevant this season as time runs out to qualify for the playoffs, the Patriots offense struggling to run the ball with OC Matt Patricia calling the shots and the Cards offense ranked 20th overall in the league.

With a Week 14 win, one of these teams will actually get to end their two-game losing streak and stay alive for a possible Wildcard playoff spot, but the Cardinals 24th ranked pass defense needs to step up against New England’s 20th-best passing attack, that matchup potentially determining the outcome of this game that will be played in Glendale, so the weather will no factor in.

Except the Arizona Cardinals have lost 10 of their last 11 games at State Farm Stadium so they might not be too excited to play at home, especially given the Patriots have covered the spread in six of their last seven games against teams that held a losing record, according to the sportsbooks, so that is how we like this bet to go, though it’s really a pick-em game here.

This season the Arizona Cardinals defense has gone after the ball, right now with tied for the 6th most forced fumbles (11) in the NFL, but on the other side of the field is the Patriots’ Belichick run defense that tied for the 5th most interceptions in the league (12), bad news for Cards QB Kyler Murray who has thrown 7 INTs compared with 14 passing TDs and 3 rushing TDS on the season.

According to the oddsmakers, each of the Cardinals' last six games have gone over the total points line and its no wonder considering the defense has allowed the second most points per week in the league (26.8) and add that to the third least effective Chargers’ defensive total points allowed per game (25.8) and that adds up to 52.6 points total, well over what this bet allows.

But that assumes that these offenses can score enough points, both teams with squads ranked right in the middle of the pack for scoring, with New England’s offense posting an average of 20.8 points per game and Arizona’s offense averaging 22 points per game, that total of 42.8 something to pay attention to since it is under this bet, a possible reason to go that way instead.

SPECIAL: Total Yards of Shortest Successful Field Goal Over 26.5 (-121) at Unibet

(Please note, this bet becomes void if there are no successful field goals in this game, and it also includes any overtime field goals.)

For this Week 14 Special from Unibet, the gambler must guess whether the shortest made field goal of the game will be for more or less than 26.5 yards, with the Patriots PK Nick Folk having kicked 7 field goals less than 29 yards this season, whereas Cardinals PK Matt Prater has booted just one field goal this season under 29 yards, so we like the over here.

The Cardinals’ defense led by DE JJ Watt is ranked 24th against the pass and 10th against the run so expect his group to keep the Patriots to a few field goal attempts in this one, and likewise the Pats’ defense starring LB Matthew Judon can also force field goals on fourth down.

Both kickers are listed as healthy for Week 14 and they will be kicking in the Arizona dry air and clear weather which should make for fewer misses overall, but this bet is just a guess and a $121 bet on the shortest field goal being overpays a $100 plus the wager to the winners, and a $108 wager on the under pays winners $100 plus the bet, so take your choice and add an extra thrill to this critical game.
