Week 10 of the 2023 NFL season kicks off with a matchup of two of the worst teams in the league in the Carolina Panthers and the Chicago Bears. While this game will feature two of the worst teams in the NFL, it would be a great opportunity for fans to make significant earnings through potential beds on either the outcome of this game or the player props.
The Panthers have had a miserable season and the first year of their rookie quarterback Bryce Young. Carolina started the season losing their first six games with the first two being two NFC South divisional foes. They picked up their first win of the season two weeks ago and a 15-13 win over the Houston Texans.
Like the Panthers, the Chicago Bears have also had a miserable season as their offense is completely falling apart under quarterback Justin Fields. The Bears started the season losing their first four games. It looked like they were about to make a complete turnaround as they defeated the Washington Commanders on the road 40-20, but have lost three of the last four games and now see fields on the sidelines hurt.

The offense of the Carolina Panthers has not found their groove yet this season nor have they given time for Young to develop. He was thrown into the starting lineup essentially the day he was drafted without any support from the offensive line. Carolina ranks among the bottom half of the league in all major offensive categories including points per game (17.5), total yards per game (283.4), and passing yards per game (187.1). While Young hasn’t looked like the Heisman Trophy winner he was in college, he has had no protection at the line of scrimmage. The offensive line has allowed 29 sacks this season.
Chicago has been terrible throughout the season on the defensive side of the ball, except for the rush defense. That is because it is so easy for opposing offenses to throw the ball against the defense of the Bears. Chicago is ranked 28th in the league in points allowed per game (26.9) and 28th in passing yards allowed per game (256.9). They are hoping that the newly acquired edge rusher in Montez Sweat will compile his first sack for the Bears on Thursday.
There has been little development for the Bears’ offense under Justin Fields this season. Chicago has seen more consistency from their backup quarterback in Tyson Bagent than the player they traded multiple first-round picks for. With Fields and running back Khalil Hebert out, the Bears will need for the turnovers to be limited.
While the Panthers' offense has been inconsistent this season, their defense has arguably been worse. Carolina is ranked 31st in the league in points per game (28.2) as they have been terrible in defending against the rushing game. The Panthers will be without their star edge rusher in Brian Burns, which will put a lot of pressure on the underwhelming defensive line against the inconsistent offensive line of the Bears.
There isn’t a lot of faith that Bryce Young will have an explosive offensive performance. What he does possess is a reliable group of receivers, the arm talent, and the terrible passing defense of the Bears to go against on Thursday.
Sticking to the Panthers’ passing offense, Adam Theilen has been a solid number option for Young. In eight games this season, Theilen has caught 62 receptions for 610 yards and four touchdowns.
Sweat has accounted for 6.5 sacks this season, with all of them coming as a member of the Washington Commanders. The Bears will look for Sweat to account for his first sack as a member of the Bears against the terrible offensive line of the Panthers.
