Packers vs Broncos 2024 08 18 Predictions

Packers vs. Broncos Predictions

The Broncos enter this game as a seven-point favorite. That is largely due to the quarterback battle playing out in Denver. Jarrett Stidham is the veteran, Bo Nix is that talented rookie, and Zach Wilson is attempting to salvage his career. All three quarterbacks are hoping to start for the Broncos this season, giving them plenty of reason to play hard in these preseason games.

Nix played the most snaps in Denver’s game last week, going 15-21 for 125 yards and a touchdown. Wilson also looked great, going 10-13 for 117 yards. Stidham took just seven snaps, completing four for 37 yards and an interception.

The Broncos' offensive experiment will be tested this weekend against a vastly improved Packers defense. Last week, that unit was led by 2023 first-round draft pick Lukas Van Ness. The defensive end looked incredible, registering one sack, two QB hits, and three TFLs.

You can also expect to see a heavy dose of rookie safety Javon Bullard. The Packers took him in the second round of this year’s draft, pairing him with coveted free agent Xavier McKinney. We’ll get a good look at Bullard tonight as he prepares to face off against three eager Broncos quarterbacks.

Given that Jordan Love may not even see the field, the Broncos seem the smart bet here. Their quarterback battle means all three will be playing for their jobs this weekend, leading to success against a Packers defense looking to test their depth.

Packers vs. Broncos Best Prop Bets

Player props are limited this time of year, but there are some fantastic team prop bets currently being offered by bet365 Sportsbook. Below are three of our favorites.

Packers Over 14.5 Points (-115) at bet365

While Jordan Love is established as the starting quarterback, there is stiff competition for the second spot on the depth chart. Sean Clifford has been a preseason star for the Pack the last two preseasons, and he took the majority of snaps last week. He looked solid last week, going 10-19 for 111 yards.

Clifford’s role as Love’s backup has been jeopardized by rookie Michael Pratt's emergence. The Tulane product was one of the last picks of the draft, but he has been turning heads during training camp. He also looked great in limited time in the team’s first preseason game, going 5-7 for 46 yards.

In addition to the position battle heating up, the Packers also have incredible depth at wide receiver. With a very young core, that means there are a ton of players competing for a limited amount of snaps.

Combine those two factors, and you get a recipe for more than 14 points this weekend.

Broncos Over 23.5 Points (23.5) at bet365

We spoke a lot about the Broncos quarterback competition above, which is why we love this bet for Sunday. While Nix is expected to be the franchise's future, Wilson and Stidham have a path to start this season. They will be looking to showcase their talent for a future opportunity with another team, giving them plenty of reason to ball out this Sunday.

On top of having three talented quarterbacks, we also expect to see a lot of rookie running back Audric Estime. He scored in last week’s game, though he managed just 3.1 yards per carry. He will be pushed by second-year back Jaleel McLaughlin, who impressed in limited time last season. The 23-year-old averaged 4.3 yards per carry last week, and we expect him to find success again this week.

Both of these factors will lead to motivated offensive drives from Denver throughout the game, resulting in another impressive point total on Sunday.

Packers Over 7.5 First Half Points (+130) at bet365

The Green Bay Packers have a lot of depth on offense, which will be on display in the first half of Sunday’s game. While Jordan Love may not see much time, Sean Clifford is more than capable of doing damage with the Packers' deep receiving corps.

In addition to their talented passing game. Green Bay also has a pair of running backs who have done a lot of damage in the preseason. Emanuel Wilson kicked off the preseason with 57 yards and a touchdown, averaging 5.2 yards per carry. Undrafted rookie Jarveon Howard saw the next most carries, going for 44 yards and averaging 5.5 per carry.

Green Bay posted 17 points in last week’s win, but the starters only accounted for seven. We have complete confidence that the Pack will easily cover this low total on Sunday.
