The NFL coaching carousel is gaining more and more participants, and the New York Jets' next coach odds show that there is still no indication of who will be in charge of the team in 2025.
Detroit Lions Defensive Coordinator Aaron Glenn is the frontrunner for the job, but there are numerous candidates who are close behind in odds. One of those men is Jeff Ulbrich, who took over as the Interim Head Coach after the team fired Robert Saleh in Week 5.
While there’s no guarantee that Aaron Rodgers will return as the starting quarterback, there will be a new man in charge of the Jets next season. But who will that be?
Here’s a look at the odds to be the new New York Jets coach.

Glenn has been the defensive coordinator of the Lions since 2021, the same year they hired Dan Campbell. Defense hasn’t been the talking point of the Lions’ historic rise, but Glenn has developed young players and got his team to play at an elite level before they were decimated by injuries. They also did a number on the Minnesota Vikings in Week 18 and are one win away from reaching their second straight NFC Championship Game.
Flores is viewed as one of the most intelligent defensive coaches in the league and did wonders with the Vikings, helping them rank near the top of the league in a variety of metrics. His trademark aggressive style would give his players an easy buy-in, especially if they win games early into his tenure. He rubbed Tua Tagovailoa the wrong way during his time in charge of the Miami Dolphins, so the team will need to evaluate the mentality of their current players.
Ullbrich didn’t necessarily do anything wrong during his time in charge of the Jets—he just stepped into a miserable situation. Aaron Rodgers was always at the center of attention and bears responsibility for the team’s horrible culture, and a massive clearout could be needed to completely eliminate the stink of last season. Ulbrich has never been a head coach, but he did a nice job as the Jets’ DC over the last few years.
Jets fans and believers drank too much Kool-Aid during the offseason, often going so far as to say they were AFC East favorites and in the running for a Super Bowl appearance. Their 5-12 finish to the season was a much more unbiased representation of their current standing with a 40-year-old quarterback and a total losing culture.
On the bright side, the Jets have lots of young talent on both sides of the football, but especially the defense. The next coach will be able to lean into that and could even take a hit at drafting a quarterback in the first round since most upcoming rookie QBs won’t have lofty expectations.
The Buffalo Bills are well-established, and the New England Patriots have their quarterback of the future and a great head coach in Drake Maye and Mike Vrabel. The Jets need to act and act quickly.
