The New Orleans Saints' next coach odds suggest there’s a three-horse race to take over the spot left vacant by interim Darren Rizzi, who was appointed after the midseason firing of Dennis Allen.
The Saints did not finish worse than 11-5 from 2017-2020 but also have not won double-digit games in any of the five following seasons. Their 5-12 record in 2024 was the franchise’s worst since 2005, and they desperately need someone to come in and right their ship.
Whoever takes over will have a massive question mark at quarterback, numerous holes throughout the roster, and the most perilous cap situation in the entire league. So with that context, here’s a peak at the New Orleans Saints' next coach odds.
Record: 5-12 (fourth - NFC South)
Offense: 19.9 (24th)
Defense: 23.4 (19th)
Playoffs: Did not qualify

Joe Brady | Offensive Coordinator (Buffalo Bills) | 13-4 (first in AFC East) | +300 |
Kellen Moore | Offensive Coordinator (Philadelphia Eagles) | 14-3 (first in NFC East) | +1600 |
Matt Nagy | Offensive Coordinator (Kansas City Chiefs) | 15-2 (first in AFC West) | +2000 |
Anthony Weaver | Defensive Coordinator (Miami Dolphins) | 8-9 (second in AFC East) | +2500 |
Brian Flores | Defensive Coordinator | 14-3 (second in NFC North) | +2500 |
David Shaw | Senior Personnel Executive (Denver Broncos) | 10-7 (third in AFC West) | +2500 |
Mika Kafka | Offensive Coordinator (New York Giants) | 3-14 (fourth in NFC East) | +2500 |
Todd Monken | Offensive Coordinator (Baltimore Ravens) | 12-5 (first in AFC North) | +2500 |
Wes Phillips | Offensive Coordinator (Minnesota Vikings) | 14-3 (second in NFC North) | +2500 |
Glenn is the defensive coordinator for the Lions, who are favored to win the Super Bowl at the time of writing. Detroit’s defensive numbers aren’t great, but that’s largely due to the sheer amount of injuries they endured, and they mostly showed up when they needed to. He’s also a part of the hard-nosed culture that was cultivated by Dan Campbell and will bring a level of intensity to his next franchise.
McCarthy won 12 games in three straight seasons with the Cowboys before the wheels fell off this year in a 7-10 campaign. Although he’s not a very innovative coach or regarded as one of the top minds in the sport, he is a Super Bowl champion who consistently won in multiple spots. He’d be good to implement structure to a franchise and make them competitive, even if they don’t have the best roster.
Brady is already well-loved by the city of New Orleans for his time as the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach during LSU’s national championship season in 2019. He did an outstanding job with the Bills for the past year and a half and helped Josh Allen position himself as the NFL MVP favorite despite not having any All-Pro teammates. Brady is only 35 years old, but teams around the league are trending toward hiring young, offensive coaches.
The Saints finished the 2024 campaign 5-12 and five games out of first place in the NFC South, which was tied with two other divisions for the worst record by the division-winning team. Even worse, the Saints went 3-12 after a 2-0 start during which they averaged 45.5 points per game.
Injuries decimated New Orleans, but even at full health, there are tons of questions about this roster. Derek Carr isn’t guaranteed to be the answer, Alvin Kamara is getting older, and the defense is old and expensive. The Saints are also more than $52 million above the cap, which is nearly twice as much as the next-closest team, the Cleveland Browns.
Whoever takes the job needs to be prepared for a total rebuild that will take time to complete. As such, maturity and commitment must be integral parts of the front office’s analysis during interviews with prospective candidates.
