Sports can be boiled down to two simple outcomes: winning and losing.

In order for there to be winners, there have to be losers. That’s why sportsbooks have provided odds for which team will concede the most points during the 2024 NFL regular season.

We already took a look at the odds for which team will score the most points. Today, we will turn our attention to the other side of the coin and see which teams sportsbooks believe will struggle, lose lots of games, or just suffer from bad luck.

Here are the odds and our best bet for the NFL team to concede the most points in 2024.

2024 NFL Most Points Conceded Favorites

Arizona Cardinals (+450) at FanDuel

The Cardinals don’t have much talent on the defensive side of the football and allowed 26.8 points per game last year, the second-most in the NFL. Head coach Jonathan Gannon came over from the Eagles after he helped them make a run to the Super Bowl but is yet to make his impact felt in the desert.

Washington Commanders (+600) at FanDuel

The Commanders completely overhauled their roster during the offseason in the first year of the official franchise reboot. Dan Quinn and new defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. will oversee a transformation on the defensive side of the ball to their trademark physical style. The Washington secondary is thin and porous, but the linebacking corps could be the best unit on any team in the top five for odds.

New York Giants (+800) at FanDuel

…And if the Washington linebacker room isn’t the best for any position amongst these teams, it’s the Giants’ pass-rushers. They acquired Brian Burns from the Panthers during the offseason and will partner him up with Dexter Lawrence II and Kayvon Thibodeaux, giving them a great forward line. Their secondary and linebackers leave a lot to be desired, however, and their lethargic offense will likely force their defense to spend extra time on the field.

Denver Broncos (+800) at FanDuel

Fans of nearly every team can make the argument their team got better during the offseason, even if that isn’t true or doesn’t pan out. The Broncos are an exception to that rule, as they ranked 27th in points per game allowed and downgraded their roster this summer. Pat Surtain II is an excellent cornerback, but the cupboard is relatively bare everywhere else.

Carolina Panthers (+1000) at FanDuel

And if you thought the Broncos’ situation was bad, take a look at the Panthers. They traded Burns, clearly their best defensive player, despite ranking 29th in points per game allowed. They shockingly allowed the second-fewest passing yards per game, though that was largely because teams were beating them handedly they ran the ball more times than not late in games.

Upset Watch

Indianapolis Colts (+2500) at FanDuel

Indy was one dropped pass in Week 18 away from probably winning the AFC South and qualifying for the playoffs. The bad news is that was almost entirely due to the offense, as the defense allowed the fifth-most points per game and did not address its biggest concern in the secondary. Rookie pass rusher Laiatu Latu has enormous potential but isn’t expected to be a Week 1 starter.

Bet on Indianapolis Colts (+2500) at FanDuel

New England Patriots (+2500) at FanDuel

The Patriots have a strong personnel group and a couple of standouts in Matthew Judon and Christian Gonzalez. We’d omit them from this list if Bill Belichick was still the coach, but the simple fact is that nobody knows how good of a job 36-year-old first-time head coach Jerod Mayo will do in his first year in charge.

Our Pick: Denver Broncos (+800) at FanDuel

The Broncos’ on-paper talent is among the worst in the league. Sean Payton was revered as a top-five coach when he stepped away from the New Orleans Saints but has done more harm than good since his return to coaching, and his refusal to address major concerns on the defense combined with their poor performances leave us pessimistic about their chances in 2024.
