5 min read
  • Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has six interceptions and 13 turnover-worthy plays when pressured.

  • The Vikings are tied for fourth in sacks with 49.

  • Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp is averaging 5.6 receptions per game.

Even though we’re in the NFL playoffs, we do have a Monday Night Football game to look forward to.

The Minnesota Vikings head west to take on the Los Angeles Rams to wrap up the wild-card round.

These teams played earlier this season, and the Rams won 30-20.

The Rams landed as the No. 4 seed in the NFC after losing in Week 18 to the Seattle Seahawks, while the Vikings went from potentially being the No. 1 seed to the No. 5 after losing to the Detroit Lions.

Below is a Same Game Parlay for the matchup, including the point spread, Cooper Kupp, Will Reichard, and Justin Jefferson. The odds are +750.

MNF Same Game Parlay Wild Card Round Rams vs. Vikings

Vikings -1 (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

The line on this game has fluctuated between the Vikings and Rams at -1, but at the time I’m writing this, they’re -1, and I’d take them either way.

Look, there’s no denying that Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold was atrocious in Week 18 in a must-win game against the Lions. He completed around 43% of his passes and had no touchdowns or picks.

Now, the narrative surrounding him is circling back to the “seeing ghosts” comment he made in 2019 about the New England Patriots defense.

There’s a cause for concern, especially in a game of this magnitude, but I think Darnold can pull it off, thanks to his weapons and defense.

However, I believe the defense will lead them to a win.

First, they average 1.41 interceptions per game and have recorded at least one in all but four this season.

The other thing to watch for is how defensive coordinator Brian Flores will drum up pressure on Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Over the last three games, edge rushers Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel have combined for 25 pressures.

The Vikings have 49 sacks this season, which is tied for fourth most in the NFL.

Getting pressure on Stafford is key.

When pressured this season, Stafford has played poorly. He’s completed just 65 of 141 passes (46.1%) for 789 yards (5.6 yards per attempt), two touchdowns, six interceptions, and has 17 turnover-worthy plays.

He has the second-most turnover-worthy plays among quarterbacks when pressured.

Looking back to the Week 8 matchup, the Vikings didn’t record a sack against him. However, when he was pressured, he averaged 5.9 yards per attempt and had one touchdown and one interception.

Given Flores’s track record as a successful defensive coordinator, I expect that to be the emphasis of his plan.

The Vikings win this one.

Cooper Kupp Over 4.5 Receptions (-120) at Caesars Sportsbook

In 12 games this season, Kupp has caught five or more passes in seven of them and is averaging 5.6 receptions per game.

He’s been on a cold streak recently, but in Week 8, he saw 10 targets and caught five passes for 51 yards and a touchdown.

Kupp is an aging player, so sitting in Week 18 to get ready for this matchup should leave him feeling ready to go.

Coming out of the slot, he’ll face Vikings slot corner Byron Murphy, who’s allowing a reception rate of 71%.

Expect this to be a higher-scoring game, improving Kupp’s chances for more targets and catches.

Will Reichard 2+ Field Goals (+106) at Caesars Sportsbook

Ah, yes, kicker props.

Getting +106 value at two field goals? This is an excellent addition.

Reichard has had a tough go of it lately, making five of eight field goals, but when he does kick field goals, they tend to come in bunches.

When Reichard attempts field goals this season, he’s had more than just one attempt all but once.

Meaning that if you see Reichard come out for one field goal, chances show that he’ll likely be out for another.

In their last matchup, Reichard had two attempts and made them both.

Justin Jefferson Anytime TD (-122) at Caesars Sportsbook

Jefferson hasn’t scored in the past two games, but he had five touchdowns in the three games before.

Also, in his last performance against the Rams, he caught eight of nine targets for 115 yards. He didn’t score, but he had plenty of production.

He’s only seen less than seven targets in a game twice this season.

The Rams allow more than one touchdown per game to opposing wide receivers, including two in Week 18 to the Seattle Seahawks.

One of those two was on Rams cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon, who Jefferson will likely see plenty of.

Witherspoon played only seven snaps in Week 18 and surrendered three catches for 43 yards and that touchdown.

He’s allowed 57 yards or more in each of his last four games.

And that’s only one cornerback on the Rams.

Jefferson is going to have to come up big for the Vikings to win a potential shootout.

He’s scoring.
