These two teams are the odds-on favorites to win the Super Bowl. We find it hard to believe that the 49ers are at least 5.5 points better than every team in the league, especially since the Ravens had a fourth-quarter lead in every game this season. Baltimore’s physicality and ability to run the ball will create problems the Niners haven’t faced yet, and Lamar will make plays.
Even though this is a matchup of the two top defenses in the league, it’s also a coming together of two elite offenses. The Niners are a bit of an unstoppable force, while Lamar’s control of the offense and ability to extend plays makes him one of the few game-breakers in the league. It’s supposed to be around 60 degrees at kick-off, so no need to worry about wintery conditions driving the total under.
Lamar needs to be at a true MVP level if the Ravens want to cover or even win outright. The Niners are seventh in sacks per game (3.1), which means he’ll have to be prepared to tuck and run, especially on important third and fourth downs. He cleared this total in back-to-back games and carries the ball 11+ times in three straight weeks, and he should have enough opportunities to get over his line.
Deebo doesn’t usually run the ball a ton but often gets more looks in high-profile games. Don’t believe us? He recorded 3+ carries six times this season, once against the Eagles (a top NFC contender), once against the Jaguars (top AFC contender), once against the Cowboys (a top NFC contender), and then against the Rams, Seahawks, and Cardinals (all division rivals). He’ll be used as a change of pace and should get clean looks.
McCaffrey as an anytime TD scorer is one of the safest plays in the NFL. He has 20 total touchdowns and scored at least once in 12 of 14 games, and he should be ready to receive a large workload against the stingiest defense in the NFL.
