The Lions gained 645 total yards against the Jags last week
Jared Goff has thrown 2+ touchdowns in seven of his ten games this season
Anthony Richardson completed 66.7% of his passes for 272 yards in his return last week
The Detroit Lions and Indianapolis Colts will square off on Sunday. While the Lions enter as a heavy favorite, they will be on the road against a Colts team desperate to keep its playoff hopes alive. Will that motivation help Indy catch Detroit napping this weekend?

Team | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Detroit Lions | -7.5 (-110) | -385 | Over 50 (-110) |
Indianapolis Colts | +7.5 (-110) | +300 | Under 50 (-110) |
The Lions' offense is coming off one of the most impressive games of the season. They beat the Jags 52-6, gaining a whopping 645 yards. Much of that damage came through the air, with Jared Goff passing for 412 yards and four touchdowns. It was yet another reminder of this team's talent, and they will show it again on Sunday.
Goff and company will be in for a big day on Sunday against a bad Colts’ pass defense. The struggling unit allows 231.5 yards per game through the air (26th) and a 97.3 opposing passer rating (21st). Those numbers were boosted thanks to playing Aaron Rodgers and the Jets last week, but they will face their toughest test this weekend.
Detroit’s pass defense allows more yards than the Colts (232.7), but they lead the league in opposing passer rating (73.6) and rank second with 14 interceptions. The yardage totals are in part due to their building large leads, forcing opponents to work through the air.
Things won’t be any easier on the ground. Detroit’s run defense allows the fifth-fewest rushing yards per game (94.8). Jonathan Taylor may be able to find some room to work but expect Indianapolis to focus on the passing game when the Lions jump out to a big lead.
The Lions are playing their best football and will overwhelm this Colts team. While the game will be in Indianapolis, it will be inside, which is where the Lions do their best work. Look for the Lions to keep rolling and easily cover this large spread.

As we mentioned, the Colts pass defense has been inconsistent all season. Their most impressive effort came against Josh Allen two weeks ago, but Jared Goff and the Lions present a more difficult challenge.
Unlike the Bills, the Lions have several pass-catching playmakers. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Sam LaPorta can make big plays and carry the load on any given Sunday. On top of that, the backfield is also a reliable part of the pass attack. That’s too many targets for the Colts to account for, and the results will be ugly.

The price on this one isn’t great, but it has been one of the safest bets of the season. Jared Goff is coming off a four-touchdown performance and has thrown for 2+ touchdowns in seven of his ten games this season. He failed to do so in the first two games of the season and once three weeks ago in bad weather at Lambeau Field.

The Colts are going to be working the ball through the air a lot on Sunday. All those attempts will allow the second-year quarterback to surpass this total, although it might not be pretty.
While Richardson has a history of being erratic, he looked vastly improved against the Jets last week. He completed 66.7% of his passes for 272 yards, averaging 9.1 yards per attempt.
