New York comes into this matchup at 2-5
New England is 1-6 and in last place in this division
The Jets need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive
Aaron Rodgers and the Jets are coming off a loss to the Steelers in a game where the offense looked lost. New York just added Davante Adams, but there was a lack of chemistry between him and Rodgers.
New England has been the worst team in football and recently handed the keys to Drake Maye to take over the quarterback position. Maye has not been awful as he is coming off a 276 yard game where he completed over 70% of his passes.
These teams have struggled on the offensive side of the ball, which is why we think it will be a tight battle until the very end.

The following odds for the Jets vs. Patriots matchup are provided by FanDuel Sportsbook.
Team | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
New York Jets | -7 (-110) | -310 | Over 41.5 (-110) |
New England Patriots | +7 (-110) | +250 | Under 41.5 (-110) |
My Pick: Jets -7 (-110) at FanDuel Sportsbook
We are taking the Patriots +7 because this is a significant amount of points at home. New England’s defense is capable of shutting down Rodgers and we think Maye will have a great performance.
Vegas having this spread at seven seems like a gift to the public and we plan on taking advantage. By no means has New York looked like a good football team in 2024, and a leopard doesn't change its stripes.

This AFC East matchup is going to come down to the rushing attacks by both teams. Even though the Jets have a better running back room compared to the Patriots, New England’s defense has a high ceiling.
The Jets are only averaging 18.3 points per game in 2024 even with all the weapons they have on the offensive side of the ball. We think New England can keep up with New York in this game at home and cover this spread.
New England is averaging 13.8 points per game in 2024 due to their inconsistent roster. With Maye at quarterback, the offense has a higher upside and the passing game should lead to more points.
In a game with two bad offenses, it can be beneficial to take the underdog’s spread especially when the line is a touchdown.
Look for New England to come out and run the football and lean on Maye to convert big third downs that lead to scoring drives.
Breece Hall has been the best part of the Jets offense. Hall has rushed for 348 yards on the ground with four touchdowns and is a potential Offensive Player of the Year candidate.
Not only can Hall get the job done on the ground, but he is also a great route runner and pass catcher. He is always the first look for the Jets in the red zone which is why we trust him in this spot to find the end zone this week.

Hunter Henry is the Patriot’s number one target right now thanks to their receivers being injured. Henry has been one of the best tight-ends in the NFL in 2024 and we expect him to score in Week 8.
Henry is coming off a game against Jacksonville in which he had eight receptions for 92 yards. He has been targeted 39 times in seven weeks, and his production will only increase.
Henry has only scored one touchdown in 2024, but he will be targeted down in the red zone a ton going forward. Outside of running back Rhamondre Stevenson, Henry will be the best option for the Patriots to score and we think he converts in this spot.
