Following Super Bowl 59, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has won his first championship ring.
With this win and his performance throughout the postseason leading up to the big game, Hurts has cemented himself among the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
Before becoming the No. 53 overall selection in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Hurts had a bit of a tumultuous college career, playing at Alabama from 2016 to 2018, he was benched his sophomore year, was the backup to Tua Tagovailoa as a junior, came in for the SEC Championship after Tagovailoa got hurt, won the game, and then transferred to Oklahoma for the 2019 season.
In his only season at Oklahoma, he was the Heisman Trophy runner-up.
Below, we’ll provide a retrospective on Hurts’ only Super Bowl win, how he compares to other players, and also examine his NFC championship appearances.
Super Bowl 59 between the Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs wasn’t a close game, and the Eagles ran away with it almost immediately.
The Eagles led 24-0 at halftime, and their largest lead was 34-0 before the Chiefs finally scored a touchdown and failed to convert a two-point conversion.
The Chiefs scored 16 in the fourth quarter but ultimately lost 40-22.
Hurts played excellent football, minus one play, completed 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, and he also ran 11 carries for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Hurts was kept clean in the pocket on 65.5% of his passes and completed 14 of 17 passes for 204 yards and two touchdowns.
On passes 20-plus yards downfield, he completed four of five passes for 117 yards, one touchdown, and threw that interception.
The interception was a poor play, but it proved mightily inconsequential.
This performance led to Hurt winning the Super Bowl MVP award.
After getting drafted No. 53 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, Hurts began his NFL career as the backup to Carson Wentz.
Interestingly, Hurts was drafted by the Doug Pederson regime, and he was fired after Hurts’s rookie season.
From there, the Eagles brought in head coach Nick Sirianni, who not only kept Hurts on the roster but also named him the starting quarterback.
In his first season as the starter, he led the Eagles to the playoffs and lost in the wild-card round.
Now, he has one Super Bowl win.
Below is a list of players who have four Super Bowl titles or more. Hurts has a bit of catching up to do, but he’ll be just 27 years old when the 2025 campaign begins.

Since taking over as the starter in the 2021 season, Hurts has had some up-and-down campaigns, but now that we’re through four full ones, he’s been to two NFC championships and has won both.
While two is more than respectable through four full seasons of starting, you’ll be surprised by how many conference championships other legendary players have been part of.
