Both teams are 1-2, though the Giants are coming off of a win
The Cowboys won 13 of their last 14 matchups with the Giants
Dallas has the worst run defense in the NFL by a wide margin
The New York Giants will welcome their NFC East rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, to the Big Apple for an NFL Week 4 showdown on Thursday Night Football.
The G-Men picked up their first win of the season last week with a 21-15 victory against the Cleveland Browns. Rookie wideout Malik Nabers shone again as he hauled in eight receptions for 78 yards and two touchdowns.
The Cowboys weren't as fortunate as they allowed 274 total rushing yards and fell to the traveling Baltimore Ravens 28-25. They trailed 28-6 entering the fourth quarter just one week after they were blown out by the New Orleans Saints 44-19.
Here, we will analyze the odds and share our favorite Giants vs. Cowboys betting picks for TNF in Week 4.

Team | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Dallas Cowboys | -5.5 (-110) | -255 | Over 45.5 (-105) |
New York Giants | +5.5 (-110) | +210 | Under 45.5 (-115) |
Giants QB Daniel Jones is one of the most criticized players in the league. While he hasn’t been great this year and is completing less than 60 percent of his passes, he also has twice as many touchdowns (four) as he does interceptions (two) and is a league-average 16th in QBR. He’s also developed a strong rapport with Nabers, who leads the league in target share.
The NY defense is strong at the point of attack and weak in the back end. They had no answers for Sam Darnold or Jayden Daniels in Weeks 1 and 2 but frustrated Deshaun Watson last Sunday, for whatever that’s worth.
The Cowboys won’t be serious contenders until they sort out their run defense. Defensive EPA per run play suggests that they are nearly three times as bad at defending the run as the second-worst team in the NFL (the Cincinnati Bengals).
Dallas is also 29th in rush yards per attempt and 30th in rushing yards per game. Dak Prescott can still spin the ball, but opposing defenses have keyed in on CeeDee Lamb and dared him to throw it to other receivers.

The NFC East is a division that is perennially full of surprises. This is also quite the year for underdogs as teams that enter as dogs of 5.5 or more points are a whopping 14-2 against the spread with 10 outright wins (going 5-0 in Week 3).
Don’t fall victim to the trickery of the Week 3 box scores. The Cowboys were utterly annihilated by the Ravens before they took their foot off of the gas and Dallas pulled a trademark “fake” comeback.
The Giants, who rank 14th in passing yards allowed per attempt, will be able to drop more men into coverage without fear of being punished by Dallas’ running backs. The biggest question is if they will continue finding success funneling most of their offense through Nabers who, while excellent, doesn’t have many teammates to take the defense’s attention off of him.
Dallas is ninth in opposing quarterback completion percentage and 14th in passing yards allowed per game. Expect Trevon Diggs to spend a lot of time on Nabers.
Because of Dallas' struggles running struggles on offense and defense, the success of underdogs this season, and primetime games trending under their projected total, the Giants’ spread at +5.5 is a strong play. They’re still the rightful underdogs, but there’s a clear path to a cover here.
