This 2023 NFL Season has seen some great performances this year, including some potential Super Bowl LVIII matchups. This Monday night will bring another potential Super Bowl LVIII preview and, likely, the best game of the regular season as the Philadephia Eagles (8-1) go on the road to take on the Kansas City Chiefs (7-2). This is a rematch of Super Bowl LVII when the Chiefs defeated the Eagles 38-35 for their second Super Bowl title in four years.

Kansas City opened the season with a 21-20 loss at home to the Detroit Lions on Thursday Night Football. Since that week one loss, the Chiefs found multiple ways to win six consecutive games. After losing to the Denver Broncos 24-9 in week eight, the Chiefs rebounded with a big 21-14 win over the Miami Dolphins in week nine in Frankfurt, Germany. The Chiefs have the best odds to represent the AFC for Super Bowl LVIII, according to DraftKings.

The Philadelphia Eagles have been playing like one of the most consistent teams in the NFL since the start of the season. They started the season on a five-game win streak as they were among the final teams to be undefeated. Their first loss of the season was to the New York Jets on the road 20-14 in week six. They went on to rebound by winning three consecutive games with two huge wins at home over the Miami Dolphins and the Dallas Cowboys.

Eagles vs Chiefs Predictions

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs Betting Preview

The Kansas City Chiefs have the potential to be the most explosive and dynamic offense in the league. The biggest drawback holding the Chiefs from their complete potential is their lack of elite wide receivers. The Chiefs are ranked fourth in the league in passing yards per game (246.9) and 11th in points per game (23.1), thanks to the All-Star playing ability of quarterback Patrick Mahomes II and tight end Travis Kelce. They’ve only relied on wide Rashee Rice in certain packages and rookie wide receiver Justin Watson is not 100% or ready to take the top receiver spot.

One of the biggest reasons the Philadelphia Eagles were one of the most efficient and dangerous teams last season is the reliability of the defense. The Eagles lost some key talent across the defense to other teams. As a result, the Eagles are ranked 17th in points allowed per game (21.7), 14th in total yards allowed per game (323.3) and 29th in passing yards allowed per game (257). While they are not great at stopping the passing game, they are elite at stopping the run thanks to a young, elite interior defensive line. Philadelphia is ranked first in the league in rushing yards allowed per game (66.3).

What is going to define the season for the Eagles this season is the productivity of the offense. Philadelphia possesses a natural leader in dual-threat quarterback Jalen Hurts, a reliable selection of running backs, two high-caliber wide receivers and an elite offensive line, led by center Jason Kelce. These players are the key reason why the Eagles are ranked in the top ten in all major offensive categories. The two biggest offensive categories are being ranked third in points per game (28) and fifth in total yards per game (376.8).

The Chiefs have established a system of reliable players at each position group on the defensive side of the ball. Kansas City is ranked second in the league in points allowed per game (15.9) and fourth in total yards allowed per game (288.2). The best aspect of the Chiefs’ defense is that there is still plenty of youth among the star players, including linebacker Drue Tranquill, cornerback Trent McDuffie and defensive end George Karlaftis. This is a defense that looks to stop any system, including an offensive as diverse and dynamic offense as Philadelphia’s.

Eagles vs. Chiefs Picks & Predictions

Pick #1 - Over 2.5 Passing Touchdowns from Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes II (+170) at DraftKings

Of the 24 touchdowns allowed by the Philadelphia Eagles this season, 19 of them have come from the passing game. With the Eagles’ rushing defense being so elite and the Chiefs being passing game-focused, the key for the Chiefs to have a big game on offense is to get Mahomes to account for multiple passing scores.

Pick #2 - Over 58.5 Rushing Yards from Philadelphia running back D’Andre Swift (-115) at DraftKings

For the Eagles’ offense, the key is to get their rushing game involved. Most of the attention is to be drawn towards dual-threat quarterback Jalen Hurts. With the RPO schemes, having a dynamic weapon like D’Andre Swift might make a difference in this matchup.

Pick #3 - Over 0.25 Sacks from Kansas City defensive end George Karlaftis (-105) at DraftKings

The Kansas City Chiefs have several reliable pass rushers, but their most efficient is edge rusher George Karlaftis. In nine games this season, Karlaftis has accounted for a team-high sacks. He is an efficient reader of the quarterback in the backfield and is expected to be there for a few plays for a sack or tackle for loss.
