  • The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are allowing two rushing touchdowns per game.

  • The Buccaneers haven’t allowed a single passing touchdown this season.

  • The Philadelphia Eagles held the New Orleans Saints to just 12 points after they scored more than 40 in their first two games.

In Week 4 of the NFL season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers play host to the Philadelphia Eagles. These teams are both 2-1 to start the season, but the Buccaneers have won five of their last six meetings.

Below are my pick, predictions, and top player props for this matchup.

Eagles vs. Buccaneers Predictions and Prop Bets

Eagles vs. Buccaneers Pick

The Eagles have one of the better offenses in the league despite the injuries. They average 167.3 rushing yards (third) and 244.3 passing yards (fifth) per game. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers allow 137.7 rushing yards (25th) and 233.7 passing yards (24th) per game. While opposing quarterbacks have yet to throw a touchdown against the Buccaneers, the passing production bodes well for moving the ball down the field. Additionally, opposing quarterbacks are averaging 46.67 rushing yards, 5.19 yards per carry, and one rushing touchdown per game against them.

Look for the Eagles to pick up a win here on the road with quarterback Jalen Hurts’ rushing ability, along with Saquon Barkley out of the backfield.

Eagles vs. Buccaneers Predictions

Starting with the Eagles, this is a team that’s been hit with numerous injuries, including their top two wide receivers, DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown, and their right tackle, Lane Johnson.

Despite Brown being out and Smith and Johnson both suffering concussions, they picked up a win in Week 3 over the New Orleans Saints, holding their offense to just 12 points. They were averaging 45.5 heading into the game.

Barkley has been excellent this season. He has 351 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns, and 10 receptions for 53 yards and another score. He currently leads the NFL in rushing.

Alongside him as a rushing threat is Hurts. Hurts can also throw the ball well, though, as he’s completing 70.6% of his passes. However, he has more interceptions (four) than touchdowns (three). As a runner, he had 34 carries for 143 yards and a touchdown.

Hurts has thrown an interception now in seven straight games dating back to last season. In the playoffs against the Buccaneers last season, he completed 25 of 35 passes for 250 yards and one touchdown pass.

The Eagles' defense has been steadily improving, allowing 134.7 rushing yards per game (the same as the Buccaneers) and 204.7 passing yards. They allowed less than 90 rushing yards and held the Saints to just 130 passing yards in Week 3.

The Buccaneers are averaging 21.3 points per game, but they haven’t put up more than 20 since Week 1. They managed just seven against the Denver Broncos last week, and quarterback Baker Mayfield completed 25 of 33 passes for 163 yards, one touchdown, and one pick. The offense averaged just four yards per play, and they were held to 91 rushing yards.

The standout player on the Buccaneers defense, at least in the secondary, has been cornerback Zyon McCollum. He’s allowed four receptions all year for 52 yards, an interception, and three pass breakups.

The Buccaneers' pass rush has generated 51 pressures, but they’ve only managed to post a couple of sacks. Meanwhile, the Eagles offensive line has allowed 37 pressures and five sacks. Remember, they could be missing their star right tackle in Lane here, so that could pose a bit of an issue.

Despite the injuries, the Eagles should come away with the win here. Their offense has been clicking despite the injuries, and Hurts’ ability to run can help them convert key third downs. They’ve lost five of their last six matchups against Tampa Bay, but the rushing duo of Hurts and Barkley will be too much to stop here.

Eagles vs. Buccaneers Best Player Props

Jalen Hurts Any Time TD (+125) at Caesars Sportsbook

The Buccaneers are allowing opposing quarterbacks to run nine times for 46.67 yards and a touchdown per game. So far, they’ve faced the Washington Commanders (Jayden Daniels), Detroit Lions (Jared Goff), and the Denver Broncos (Bo Nix).

Hurt is a dynamic rushing threat who scored 15 touchdowns last season and already has one to his name this season.

The Buccaneers are also allowing two rushing touchdowns per game, which is second-most in the NFL.

Running quarterbacks have proven to be a weakness against them, and Hurts is one of the best in the league.

Saquon Barkley Any Time TD (-137) at Caesars Sportsbook

I mentioned that the Buccaneers allow over 137 rushing yards per game, and here, they’re taking on the leading rusher in the NFL in Barkley. All five of his touchdowns have come in two of the three games this season. In Week 3, he had 17 carries for 147 yards and two touchdowns.

As mentioned, the Buccaneers allow two rushing touchdowns per game, and they’ve allowed a rushing touchdown to opposing running backs in every game this season. They also allow eight catches for about 70 yards per game.

Barkley will be the No. 1 option in this offense in Week 4 with the injuries to Brown and Smith.

Jalen Hurts Under 1.5 Passing TDs (-204) at Caesars Sportsbook

It’s unclear if Brown will be back, but either way, I think the formula in this game for the Eagles will be to run the ball early and often. Over his last 20 games, Hurts has had multiple touchdown passes in just six of them. Also, the Buccaneers haven’t allowed a single passing touchdown all season.

We could see one to Brown if he returns, or even Barkley, given the statistical output they’ve allowed to pass-catching backs, but the theme here will be running the ball.
