The Browns look to bounce back after getting embarrassed at home
Is Deshaun Watson focused on playing football right now?
Will Jacksonville rebound after not scoring in the second half against the Dolphins last week?
Week 1 of the NFL season is officially over, and we are looking ahead to Week 2. The Browns travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars, and we have a play that holds a ton of value.
Deshaun Watson is dealing with more off-the-field issues. It coincided with Cleveland losing to Dallas last week by a score of 33-17.
Jacksonville also suffered a loss to Miami last week after leading the game for three quarters. Both teams come into this week looking to capture their first win, and it is not going to be easy.

Team | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Browns | +3.5 (-120) | +146 | Over 41.5 (-110) |
Jaguars | -3.5 (-102) | -174 | Under 41.5 (-110) |
My Pick: Jaguars -3.5 at FanDuel Sportsbook
The spread for this game might surprise some people, given how Jacksonville fell apart last week. The Browns were just as bad. We are backing the Jaguars in this spot, and this team did do some good things a week ago.
The Browns' defense was awful and showed no signs of life at all last week. On the offensive side of the ball, Watson looked lost as he only threw for 169 yards.
Jacksonville was by no means any better, but we have more confidence backing the home team in this spot. We expect Jacksonville to cover this 3.5-point spread.

This matchup is going to be one of the better games this weekend, as it should be competitive. These teams have talent all over the field but did not show anything in their respective openers.
The Jaguars' defense has some work to do this week, but they don’t have to worry about Tyreek Hill like their opener. We expect that defensive core to come together and get after Watson, resulting in a victory.
Watson was 24-45 throwing for 169 yards with two interceptions against Dallas. He hasn’t looked like the quarterback we saw a few seasons ago because defenses have found an answer.
Watson utilizes his feet in the offense, and defenses keep him in the pocket. We believe the Jaguars will attempt to make this happen.
In last week's contest, Jerome Ford ran the ball 12 times for 44 yards. He is going to have to get more touches if the Browns want to win this game.
David Njoku led all Brown’s receivers against Dallas with four catches for 44 yards. Wide receiver Amari Cooper was held to two catches for 16 yards. There is no question that Cooper is going to have to be more involved in the offense or Cleveland will struggle in 2024.
In the Cold Hard Football Facts stats, both teams rank in the bottom half of the league in quality stats power rankings. In fact, the Browns rank 31st in real passing yards per attempt, while the Jaguars are 18th.
The Browns have to be better on defense this week after allowing 33 points last week. This starts up front and by getting pressure on Lawrence. After what we saw last week, we simply don’t believe in Cleveland.

The Jaguars will look to bounce back after blowing a second-half lead to the Dolphins. The momentum shifted in this game after Tyreek Hill's 80-yard touchdown which sent the Jaguars home.
Jacksonville’s secondary has to do a much better job this week, and they have the talent to make this happen.
Trevor Lawrence needs to improve this week, as he was 12-21 throwing for 162 yards a week ago. Gabe Davis led all of Jacksonville’s receivers with three catches for 62 yards. Christian Kirk has to step up in this game if the Jaguars want to cover this spread.
Ultimately Travis Etienne is going to be the difference maker this week. He carried the ball 12 times for 44 yards and a score, and we think his volume will increase.
The Browns allowed 102 rushing yards against Dallas, and with Etienne and Bigsby splitting volume, this might cause some confusion for Cleveland.
Bigsby is a reliable asset for Jacksonville's offense, as he provides more power in this system. With him, Etienne, and the quick receivers, we think the Jaguars will be too much to handle on Sunday.
