Bills vs. Texans Picks, Predictions & Player Props: Can the Bills Bounce Back in Houston?

  • Von Miller has been suspended for four games

  • Nico Collins has 489 receiving yards and two touchdowns

  • Bills’ LT Dion Dawkins is questionable to play Sunday

This matchup is one of the most exciting of the weekend as the AFC East-leading Bills take on the AFC South-leading Texans. Both teams are loaded with playmakers, but the Bills will likely be without several key players yet again in Week 5.

Bills vs. Texans Predictions

Thanks to the Bills ' extensive injury report, this may be the easiest bet of the entire weekend. The team is missing several key players on defense and now may be without left tackle Dion Dawkins.

In addition to the injuries, the NFL suspended Von Miller for four games due to a 2023 incident. The veteran linebacker leads the team with three sacks this season, and his absence will be a massive problem for Buffalo on Sunday.

CJ Stroud has been excellent to start the season, with 1,054 passing yards and six touchdowns. His success can be partly attributed to the emergence of Nico Collins, who already has 489 yards and two touchdowns. He is playing at an elite level and has developed a strong connection with his young quarterback.

Not only is the Bills' secondary beat up, but they will also be without their top pass rusher. That will leave Stroud with plenty of time to work.

Buffalo’s offense is coming off its worst game of the season, scoring just ten points against the Ravens. The Texans' aggressive pass rush will make things difficult for Josh Allen, who may be without his blindside protector and top receiver.

Last but not least, this will be a revenge game for Stefon Diggs. The Bills did not want to pay the star receiver, leading to him joining the Texans. While he has had a quiet start to the season, expect him to put on a show against his former team.

Bills vs. Texans Pick

Even if the Bills can get healthier, we don’t trust them to get a road win against this Texans team. Expect the Texans to shred the Bills’ defense, leading to a lopsided victory on Sunday.

Stefon Diggs TD Scorer (+900) at Caesars Sportsbook

As we mentioned above, this is a revenge game for Diggs, who seems to have a chip on his shoulder after departing Buffalo. While he is still finding his place in this young offense, you can bet Stroud will help feed him the ball on Sunday.

The Bills' safety Taylor Rapp and corner Taron Johnson are dealing with injuries and carry “questionable” designations heading into the weekend. Even if they play, stopping a motivated Diggs will be incredibly difficult.

CJ Stroud Over 1.5 Passing TDs (-125) at Caesars Sportsbook

One thing we didn’t talk about above is the Texans' run game. Joe Mixon will likely miss another game with an ankle injury, leaving Cam Akers as the lead back. He impressed last week, but Houston has kept his carry totals low. That means Stroud will likely have a lot of pass attempts against a beat-up Buffalo secondary, and the result will be a multi-touchdown effort.

Texans Over 23.5 Points (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

This one is a no-brainer. Even if the Bills can get a couple of players healthy on defense, they will be in trouble. The loss of Miller takes away the team’s top pass rusher and a key defensive leader. His presence will be missed, especially against an offense like the Texans.

In addition to the injury factor, we expect the Bills to keep this close early. That means we will see a lot of aggressive and fast drives from the Texans, leading to a point total easily surpassing 2.5 points.
